that looks fantastic, but about depth of gameply the consoles versions would be limited my controller inputs. Where as PC games can be so much more detailed in terms of gameplay.
What Im wondering is during development can they make a separate PC version with more complex gameplay
as an example I would love to combine that engine with ARMAII which more of a simulator than just FPS blowshit up kind of game
I can't wait to get my new computer, it should handle the next Crytek game with ease. Crysis was a little laggy on my laptop =/ I never really got into the editor much, but it was pretty cool from what I tinkered with. The engine tech is amazing.
I feel Crytek deserves more praise than Epic Games by all means for ease of use, and engine tech.
I mean, who honestly wants think twice about what they do before running a finish on touches. When it can be all real-time, easy to use/headache free, and of course beautiful.
Nevertheless, it's fantastic to see them really pushing themselves out there these days with that engine! Keep on Rockin Crytek!
Very cool they are managing to make that all run on xbox and ps3 like that ! He said they are the only engine doing no precomputed lighting at all though, that's not true! We did that at grin and I'm pretty sure there's more out there.. doom 3 did it!

I think Crytek was mostly referring to the idea of any of the publicly commercial based engines that could be licensed.
I'm sure there are many studios that have it done, like Grin as you mentioned.
Though what good is it (for grin for example to take props) if the engine and it's tools aren't publicly available via free SDK, or that of advertised for licensing, while still being kept behind closed doors? :P
looks very awesome. but, from the looks of it, the gameplay still seems slow and clunky. i mean, look at that guy trying to shoot. until the their gameplay and just the feel of movement is polished, im gonna pass
To everyone who whines about gameplay in this thread: what the fuck.
"until the their gameplay and just the feel of movement is polished, im gonna pass"
Pass all you like, but this is about the engine. If you could see fit to keep your uninformed opinion-holes closed for the duration of this thread, it would be much appreciated.
but mightypea, clearly you must know that as every selfproclaimed game expert will tell you, gameplay is locked to the game engine
I mean you guys, just take a look at lost odyssey and unreal tournament, clearly neither could get away from the gameplay fact that its unreal engine.
same with crytecs old engine, aion could never get away from that shooter base that is so tightly bound into cryengine.
I seriously hope that was sarcasm because that is the biggest load of bullshit I have heard in a long time. Look a bioshock it runs on the unreal engine and is certainly not a twitch shooter. Also when you license (depending on the company) you can have access to all othe source code of the engine which means you can easily change the whole way in which the engine utilizes movement. From the camera in the editor to the movement of the players in game all of this can be changed through the access of the source code.
Nice reading there. I did think it was sarcasm although it is hard to tell through the use of text. Thank you for the lovely way in which you pointed that out it really helped seeing as it had been mention before hand well done.

Nice stuff though.

YES!
I miss that Dreamcast game
I believe because the ps3 is running with full range (color range) turned off.

What?!
It was just a small joke, and the sarcasm might have been missed to someone, since there are people who actually sound like I did there
now calm down peoples.
(I got your joke!)
(I got your joke too)
the videos don't play
and runs poorly on most computers (including the 360 and PS3), and can't even come close to crysis in visual quality :P
