Photoshop Layer Style Recipes

Hey does anyone have any cool tricks or tips for creating certain types of effects using layer styles in photoshop.

One thing I always do for rust is:

1. Set up a layer with a stroke effect on it and set the stroke color to your rusty red (make sure your position is "Outside").
2. Then change your layers blending mode to color and start painting with a darker shade of red than you chose for your stroke.
3. Should result in some pixel perfect sharp rust without the need to sharpen it. You can smudge it and move it around all you want. Oh, and make sure to use a good brush so you get a good noisy rust pattern.
