I think it's a matter of pride...the more you try to force em, the more they will insist they don't speak english. On the up side, their profanities are fun to yell...Tabarnaque!!
I just moved to montreal and was talking with a friend at funcom and he mentioned this a few days ago, I was like wow. Montreal is the new Vancouver (since it's dying)

Vancouver's not dying... It's quite the opposite. It's thriving and it's WAY TOO EXPENSIVE. That's one reason Montreal may become a more popular target for expansions. There's also better tax relief for game developers there afaik.
Makes me wonder how long it's gonna last. I have trouble believing the province that bleeds the most money in Canada, can maintain a 50%+ subsidy on salaries.
Ok I know next to nothing about Canada, it's taxes, or economics for that matter. I've got the impression that taxes in Canada are quite high at least more so than the US. Won't they make their money back in income and sales taxes from the employees that will be living there and spending their money locally. Sort of a trickle down then back up effect?

45% of the federal arts and entertainment fund. Although i'm still convinced that money is almost entirely spent on dubbing family guy and the simpsons into quebecoinese.
I´m a TSW´er and there will be a TSW-group in montreal. So sign up and work with assholes like me.
I'm seriously excited about TSW (I'm scared of it, too, it may just eat my life up if it lives up to the promises) but I've been waiting for Dreamfall Chapters for aaaaages

Yeah, so in other words it's dying, combine that with the unionizing of the fx industry there and it's going to tank.

Well, no. It's thriving. It's just expensive. So if you're here you have to be really good or on the outskirts. We have many successful studios here and new one's still popping up despite and as a result of layoffs from the bloated giants over the past year.
On the other hand Montreal is cheap to live and rent space and additionally there are some great tax breaks. So they're likely to continue growing. Which doesn't mean that anyone else is dying... this is still a growing industry.
Boy, do people defend Vancouver like it was there mother and the thread is being pretty derailed. The city isn't going to tank because it's a nice place and popular, I'm just saying it's not doing too hot and I wouldn't call it thriving based on what is going on there and the amount of people that are leaving because of it.
I'm sure it'll do well in the future, but I'd call it stangnating at best.

Dude, I waited 7 years between TLJ and Dreamfall.
As much as I'd kill to play the next installment, it'll probably be a while.
Yeah winterlord. Noticed how all my contacts suddenly said "Kanada next woo!" I know some of your people! Mwahaha
Anyway. As far as i know the next studio will be MMO´s aswell. The tsw team will be both there and in oslo. Straight from the mouth of ragnar. Seeing how i will be in canada aswell i sure as hell hope so.
