Lost connect edge

Seems like I lost the ability to assign connect edge to a shortcut.
Example:
Select a edges around a cube. If I click connect it'll connect the edges, however if I try Ctrl+Shift+e like I used to use, it does nothing. If I go in my customize user interface panel and check, it's still listed as the shortcut for connect (no dialog) (poly) like it used to. Also tried assigning another hotkey instead of Ctrl+Shift+e but that didn't work either. Also, if I select 2 verts instead, the shortcut works which is even more puzzling.

Anyone have had this happen or know a solution? I use this quite a bit and really slows me down having to go and click everytime I want to connect edges.

its the shortcut override toggle button and its within the main menu of 3dsmax. If you enable it it forces shortcuts that are modifier specific or tool specific over the default interface shortcuts. This is sometimes required so that shortcuts for example in the UV editor work or in the Edit Poly modifier.
Its really confusing at times and often the reason why a certain shortcut does not work the way you think it should.
