Hi does anyone know of a way to randomly assign a colour material to sub-objects or objects in a scene?
e.g you have a lot of bricks and then each one gets a random colour (that way when it comes to texturing you can bake a diffuse map and have control over slight colour variations)

it's part of the standard max install

you can strip down the code yourself if all you need is assigning it to your current object, and not rendering a texture map.
although I choose not to use random colors but portioned colors of the HSV range instead so that a maximum color contrast among the shells is given.
