Hey guys. I'm working for a MOD team and they need Maya for Xmodel and all that stuff.
I gave a guy a rar folder with an obj, spec map, diffuse and normal map.
We're wondering how to get these on my model.
Very basic, I know. But I'm using Max and we're lucky to have somone who even has Maya.

Select your object, then right click on the material in the work area and 'Assign material to selection'.
Now double click on the material it it should open up the materials properties.
You can now click little checkerboard buttons at the side of each property to assign your texture maps. Make sure it's already selected as '2D' textures, then select the 'file' and then your textures.
You can also just drag your texture files into the work area of the hypershade, then middle click and hold on each texture, move over the material an release and you can then select what to assign the texture too.
Click the icons then click file, then browse to your textures.
Normal maps get assigned to the bump channel, just change the 'use as' to use 'tangent space' instead of bump. This can be found under the 2dbump node in the hypershade.
Help file for basic stuff like this (as well as much more advanced stuff). The help file is very good, and goes over this information extensively. I think it's the best Help file of any 3d program out there (I'm biased however)
we really need this because the qaulity diffrence varies greatly from jpeg to tga.
Edit - These guys, bare in mind, aren't 3D techies.
Renderer>>High Quality Rendering
The default viewport filters textures down to a lower resolution.
