Same for me, I've been waiting since the announcement and wasted my bored time this summer gathering references and inspiration for it, it'd better not be cancelled.
Good news, a bit later than expected, but very happy it will happen. It will be interesting to see the format this time around, read somewhere that it will be from scratch, concept wise, can anyone confirm this? 20 days gives enough time to get teams ready:)
Not sure if it would be better to join a team or just enter by myself as because of the date change I will have restricted time to work on the project.
can't wait to start. was first afraid it would start in my holidays time but my holidays are almost over so i'm kind of happy... hopefully it starts soon
With the new job, I'm not sure I'll have the time to put in to be a useful asset for a team so I might just have a crack at it myself. At least then when I don't get anywhere I won't be letting anyone down.
Its harder for a lot of students going right into their new terms around the starting date of the challenge, but I would be a fool to pass this up... so I won't.
Wow, big news! Kinda cool that there's a totally level playing field, game art skill vs game art skill, no BS.
Not to complain but i might have to skip out on it now. This doesn't pair up with my major senior school project like i was hoping it would. SHUCKS! (maybe i can convince my teacher to bend the rules a bit)
Anyway, Thanks for the heads up, this is definitely good to know so i don't spend more time anticipating this challenge.
Edit: I was thinking this over in my head and thought how cool it would be to have special awards for artist who used texture space most wisely, or had the best edge flow. This would be much more obvious now that everyone's using the same concepts. Just a thought!
No no no... I think you meant "every crate needs an environment" not the other way around. You cannot just depend on the environment to look good, you must first depend on the crate, and once your trust is in that crate, the environment will follow.
every year, thousands of crates die because they didnt have a proper environment to live in. this year, do your part. make an awesome environment so that little cratey here can live a happy, safe, and healthy life.

lol that would be an awesome piece of promo as a poster with a cool little crate
Explosive barrels are a shamockery. The crates were living a peaceful life in their sexy environments, and then these fascist barrels came in and broke everything up, causing lame explosions in areas that don't even make sense... MOFO's LIKE TO CAUSE SHIZAT!
I'm disappointed it's starting in 18 days...it said the contest would start in late August...LIES!!
Fred never starts contests on time because he's a tease, a dirty dirty tease. But he likes to make you wait, because obviously it makes you need it more. :P
So yeah, I'm in with (probably) Mr. Funky Bunnies again this year and a 3rd mystery guest TBD.

last i heard it was on the 24th, but they extended the comicon, so who knows what kind of rescheduling has taken place.
If you're part of a half decent team, have free sodas and enjoy drinking coffees while making env. art until 5am, PM me!
Hang your heads in shame for thinking such things.
Looking forward to it... WEOP!
so since I'm now in a city where I don't know anyone I'm pretty much in 100% this year.
So does anyone need a teammate? Maybe need to wait to see if there are teams, though pretty sure there are.
-crates
-red & yellow caution stripes
-bloom
-the colour brown
It's true. I heard it.
- No post effects
- No nerd raging
- No color by numbers kits
But still, no brown.
EDIT: And no complaining either. You'll do the work and fucking like it.

Anyway, some rules like that would be fun, if it's reasonable.
own scenes; since really all those would probably make a better environment in the end anyway.

Its science really... pure... f-in... SCIENCE!

Murdoc, I don't yet have a team and/or teammates. Maybe we can cook something up if your interested.
I hope theres no rules against a crate and/or barrel factory. lol.
I jumped the gun earlier, there any truth to this?

The timer has already reset once, and its almost business time again.
Is it going ahead this time? or is the timer lying again.
