Hello polycound buddies. Do you know some good portable devices for drawing/painting?
And it shouldn't be much expensive. I just found some cool notebook with wacom tablet inside.
I'd just find a cheapish laptop that can handle photoshop, painter, etc and grab a cheap intuos off ebay, one more thing to carry round but you're paying less than $1000 for it
You might be able to find a used one from a few generations back, though I"m not sure how far back you can go before you end up in 1024x768 land... The motion tablets have a couple of different display options, one of which is specific for outdoor use.
Here's another thread about tablet pcs from a few days ago, be sure to read the stuff I wrote about getting a better stylus than the default one that usually comes with tablet pcs.
yeah I learned my lesson on buying a tablet pc convertible, it's underpowered and when in convertible mode the keyboard is locked underneath so no shortcut keys so makes it pretty useless in that sense you'd have to hook up a second keyboard to use it as a drawing app, it's mostly created for office professionals looking to write notes in meetings, etc and not for us arteests.
You might consider going the lo-fi route and getting a "digital notepad" instead, [ame="http://www.amazon.com/SolidTek-DigiMemo-692-Digital-Notepad/dp/B0009OD4CS"]something like this[/ame]. You clip a regular pad of paper to them -- that one I've used before and takes 6x9 pads, there's a bigger one that takes 8.5x11 -- and write/draw with the provided pen.
It captures your strokes as vector lines. No pressure sensitivity, no colors, no pen styles, no changing the pen out for another one, just records your lines. You plug it into your PC via USB and download them.
It's a little more convenient than sketching things and scanning them in later, but it's only vector so it's not for everyone. Just tossing out another option.

edit: that one?
laptop+tabled isnt very convenient to use on nature
I got one a couple years ago from Geeks.com for $300. Used it till my kid took it over then dropped it.
These guys make the best slate tablets by far.
