Myes myes furries. You forgot about the restructuring of the environments. That's the really exciting part about this update. Maybe not exciting enough for me to actually start playing again after I swore never to touch WoW again, but nevertheless what they've done is looking pretty amazing.

Hate it or love it, you've got to give props to Blizzard. They've masterfully pimped and re-pimped the shit out of this franchise.

That trailer makes me hate them for making me want to play something I'll end up hating again in a few months time...you brilliant bastards.

I'm surprised they took so long in making Goblins a playable race.

I assure you, they have proper porn and do not have to make due with perfectly normal fantasy art.

Honestly, I don't understand the fixation certain communities have against anthropomorphic animals. It's a characterization tool like any other and frankly kemonomimi (Which your average joe is fine with) feels more exploitative to me than your run-of-the mill anthropomorph to me. Even when it does come down to porn it hardly ranks against some of the stuff out there.

Yes that is all, no I don't care about WoW at all ¬_¬

Depending on your definition, it was possibly drawn by a "furry lover". You know what the creepiest of furries jerk off to, though? Everything. EVERYTHING. So don't worry your head about it, or you're never going to be able to look at ANY cartoon animal ever again without realizing that someone, somewhere would jerk off to pictures of it. Don't let other people's fetishes color your own personal life. If you do, soon you'll realize that people fetishize everything - not just curvy wolf girls. If you're not careful, you might realize that there are people who are obsessed with feet. There are people who would look at a dog in a collar and wish that collar was around their neck instead of the dog's. There are people who drive around in their cars completely naked, subconsciously hoping someone will notice, because it turns them on. Bottom line, people are screwed up, and furries are frankly the least of your worries. Don't let it get to you.

Now then... Furries in Warcraft? Whatever happened to Tauren? Whatever happened to Pandaren??

Umm Furies and Plushophiles aren't the same. I was curious one day and did some Wikipedia searching.

Furies, like anthropomorphic animals. Plushophiles want to have sex with anthropomorphic animals.
  • Rox
Not really. Strictly speaking, plushophiles like plushies. Some use them as sex toys, but some plushy collectors shamelessly call themselves plushophiles, too, just because they like them so much. If anything, plushophiles have sex with stuffed animals, and furries would, if they could, have sex with anthropomorphic animals. Some of them, not all of them. Because when it boils down to it, the "x likes y" is the root of it all. Furries like anthro animals, that's it. Some make a fetish out of it, many don't. Some roleplay and look at or draw art, some wish their fantasies was real, some await the day whene genetic manipulation actually makes it real, some believe in animal totems and spirits. Many don't care either way. The only thing the label "furry" implies is that there's some sort of liking for anthropomorphic characters.

    Now, um.. On topic?

I am actually really disappointed with the Worgen. I was waiting for this badass race for Alliance (was hoping for them for Burning Crusade) and now they do look like furries.

Their facial features are more lion-ish than wolf-like. I understand that the old models / textures of the worgen needed to be updated for this expansion, but I feel they went the wrong direction.

The concept art is also very depressing. They shoulda let me do it :p

In fact, just look at the SS in the first post. Compare their muzzles and look how similar they are.

Look at the old worgen faces and look how badass they were:

Meh, all grossness aside its just another fandom and another way for people spend their money on the weekend.

If you stop thinking of it as an internet commentator and more of a business mindset, which is what game companies are, its another niche market. A group of dedicated people who will buy your product based upon the characters in it no matter what.

Now is this good for artistic integrity and originality, not necessarily if its out-right exploited but it is something to take into consideration if you're in the business of making money.

And yes, I am a one myself and no I don't get off to plushies and pictures of ducktales, I just really dig cartoons and such, its a pretty big fandom with plenty of different sub fetishes that not everyone is into and not everyone is in it for the same reason, that's one of the reasons I like it. That, and its pretty lucrative if you're an artist.

Except that babar porn, ooh doggies is that hawt... and yes that was a joke :p

I suppose it could be an intelligent business decision, you CAN milk money out of those furry lovers... hell, that's 50% of Deviant Art right there :P

And I now fully regret ever Google searching "Babar porn."
  • Zotter
hahaha, I guess I should have put a warning about that one, yeah that even shattered my soul when I saw it, they didn't need to go the extra yard and do it in the style of the actual book >.<

Yes it definitely is good for money, been making some extra money during school doing commissions. And this doesn't mean every game character has to be one but as long as it fits with the context, like the warg are supposed to be what happened to that area that has been unreachable up until now, this is the pestilence they suffered.

Though there seems to be a horrible disparity between the first shot on the board which doesn't look too bad, to the pic that was recently posted with the male and female doesn't look as good.

edit: sorry for being all TLDR, just got off of work and pretty amped up now.

Yeah, i think they've pretty much already cornered that market...

I can't believe i'm posting in this thread :P, haha. I'm getting the hell out of here.
  • Rox
Wow, are you guys serious? Really? WoW already had plenty of anthropomorphic animals in it! And if there are people out there who would pick up a specific game JUST so they could play a specific race, I'm afraid we've already lost them to Everquest's cats, mice and lizards, or Perfect World International's giant studly wolf race.

Trust me, anyone who considers themself a furry and likes playing MMOs will already have a WoW account and at least one tauren character. Unless they're too cheap to pay for a game, in which case they're playing PWI and won't care that WoW added a race that already exists in their game.

Anyone else think the female worgen looks a lot like the female undead with a wolf head?

What happened to the Pandaren race? Can't they retexture it to all black bears for China?
    WarCraft_Samwise025c.jpg
Not that I care much I haven't played since level 67. When the Burning Cursade came out having 4 level 60's turned out to be a curse... But I might come back to be a Pandaren Brewmaster.

Nah. That'd be Flain. I'm on good terms with Flain, though. He probably wouldn't mind if I set up an embassy in this corner of the Internet! Heh, I'd hate to label myself like that, but if we have to get into the subject, I do have to consider myself one of the "misunderstood furries", I guess. The Internet is doing very odd things to what used to be a pretty cozy little community.
