Hey fellas, I hope this sixth re-design is better than the last, no more sculpting, just modeling -plain and simple inside blender. I've watched a heap of tutorials and for this model I used MakeHuman to create a mannequin of the desired muscular build of the model before hard surface modeling over it. If you guys have any crits of comments or references that may be useful, I'd be happy to see them.
Cheers mate, here's the progress from earlier on main the chest, I'll get working on the legs.
BTW this is the high poly model that's going to be retopologised.
It's male, I think the dam legs are just strange at the moment, I'm probably going to end up re-doing them or at least having a fair over-haul of the current shape.
I think you need to shorten the mid area a bit. The chest is too thick in the profile view. I love the padded armor but the design around the crouch could use some work in my opinion.
Thanks a lot man, I did a low poly version and UV'd it, took me a fair bit (dam hands are a pain to UV)
So, weighing in at 1560 tris is the low poly with the normal map!
Normal mapping already? dont get ahead of yourself. I agree with the others. definite improvement from you! great to see! but dont rush it. Take your time, make the high poly perfect before you go and start baking it into the low poly
The normal maps are applied in Unity 3d engine, I just duped half the mesh with the uvs and removed doubles, then I imported to unity. Looks pretty good so far.
I'm quite happy with the high poly but if you have any suggestions I'd like to hear them. I think I'm going to re-do the low poly because I'd like to get a better silhouette from it, plus the UV mapping wasn't the greatest.
sample the delight of this flavor.
If you fix your proportions you should be sitting somewhat pretty, methinks.
Tend to that low poly topology as well, there was a recent thread that had alot of topo reference in it, but unfortunately I'm too lazy to look. it's here somewhere though!
mmm, I still gotta control my eagerness. I just really want to get this dam character I've been concepting outta my head, whatever it takes, and it's been a great learning experience so far. I'd also like to thank fellow polycounters who assisted me in my learning.

Also is this a male or female body? because some parts look more feminine and other more masculine.
