I see you have a sense for 2D too, it would be cool if you designed yourself a character in this particular style, would be cool. Nice to see you are up to new stuff nevertheless, and a really good start.
Yeah I have that book too, Tatsuyuki Tanaka rocks. He was supposed to release a second artbook last year, dunno what happened to it. He did make an animated short in Genius Party Beyond, which is in the same style.
Good start anyways, hope you can make both characters, would be nice next to each other.
Great source. Looks like a fun concept and a cool artbook. There are a couple things I felt were off from the concept, and making them a little more accurate would help. handy gif
- Made the head a little longer.
- You've got a lot of ribbing on the jacket. You can easily remove every other ridge.
- A lot of the "stuff" looks very delicate. Beef it up! (belts, clips, etc.)
- If you look at the concept, the distance from the top of the pants to the crotch is about the same distance (if not a tiny bit longer) than the distance from the crotch to the bottom of the shorts. (I actually could have made the crotch lower in the gif)
I've always wanted to do something from that book.
Cannabis Works is also one of my favorite art books.
Looking great so far, would look even better with a few changes suggested by Spacey.
