Very cool, these are awesome! My favorites are the purple spikey head and the angry orange guy. What is the game, I'd like to see these guys swimming around?
Ha ha, those look like they were really fun to make man
I was wondering though, for the treasure chest, the pearls have a vert in the center, and it doesn't look like you have it moved up or down (to give some depth) I was just wondering if you kept that extra vert there for lighting purposes? (or is everything 100% diffuse / no lights).
very cool, I like how as you go down the line they slowly get more and more expressive in features until the last one hits with BAM yeah, fish face...haha.
Divi - Thanks! I agree with the style difference, I had concepts from two different artists and I tried to blend their styles together, but I think its still noticeable (the purple fish ended up more on the realistic end with the highlights, where the angry fish is solidly cartoon).
I painted the textures at 512x512 and sized them down afterwards to 256, and probably will once more to 128 when they are in the tank in-game.
Tumerboy, Slum - Thanks guys! The game isn't finished yet but I got the go ahead to show these off. I'll be sure to post here when its hit the App store.
SyncViewS - The orange guy is my favorite too, he recently beat out the little black fish as my favorite. I love the design of the little black one but he was the first fish I did so he is a bit dated now in my view.
Harry - Thanks, much appreciated!
JasonLavoie - Good catch on the pearls, it was intended for depth but I forgot to pull it out. Everything is shown 100% diffuse and will likely be that way in the game.
the texturing looks lovely, umm just out of curiosity how long did it take to make each one??As I can see you have put it in a lot of care and attention into each respective piece,
I like the fat orangy fish as he seems to have the most character and stands out alot he reminds me of the windfish from links awakening.
the art style is very reminiscent of finding nemo which is also cool.
great work man! Only crit would be that it looks like the sawtooth things on the front of the submarine are backwards. Shouldnt the "point" of each tooth be pointed forward into the next tooth, instead of back? Minor crit, fish came out super sexy
amotaf - Thanks! Once I got into the routine it took between 4 and 8 hours for the modeling and texturing on most of them. Some of the more complex ones took up to 10-12 hours.
whats_true - We're working on it!
Ferg - Dur, great point, I didn't even think about that when I made it, I was blindly following the concept. I'll flip them around Thanks!

did you paint the textures in the actual res or did you downsize them afterwards from a higher res?
^The eye area on this one is beautifully, subtly well done
