Hey all. New to these forums and Im looking forward to having some great times here and learning alot. Here is a original character of mine based on a story I will develop for a game idea, long term by the way. I began this in early June as part of my 3D Character Design class in my Game Design bachelor. We were supposed to use the entire 3 months of the trimester to work on this and we were going to model, rig and texture the character, in a low-mid poly form suitable for a game enviroment. Well the trimester was cut short, so we were told to atleast finish the modeling. I was able to do it. Also the poly count is disastrous, but I know its something I will learn to control as I get better.
This is more or less how I wanted the character to be but I had to do some changes from the model sheet for the final model. I plan on remodeling this in the future and will eventually texture and rig it. This is the first organic character I have ever modeled and I am quite happy with what I accomplished. I used the Joan of Arc tutorial as reference as well as some photos. Critiques are very welcome.
I used a base model sheet I found on google to put my character design upon, but also used another model sheet I designed for the nude form. I modeled in Maya 2009.
By the way, can someone tell me why I have artifacts in that render?
I highly recommend grabing an anatomy image of both the human head and human body off of google image search and then rotoscoping them. Getting a perfect anatomical foundation is critical. Always check the anatomy. If you don't it's like building a house by just eyeballing it, it usually wont turn out that good.
If you are trying to stylize or emphasize any anatomical details i would do that AFTER you have a solid neutral anatomy.
I like the concept for the armour. I would love to see ya go back in and keep to the concept on that.
But yes, jocose is right about the anatomy. For a first organic model though, not bad at all. My first one was pretty pitiful to be completely honest so good job. Keep on practicing!
I agree, the face looks very ambiguous right now, a bit manly. My first organic model was a mess though so nice work so far, just try to work on the anatomy a bit before continuing with the overall model.

jocose: Thanks for the heads up! Im still woozy in my anatomy but Im still hitting the books every now and then to really get details down.
slipsius: Yes, I do indeed intend to go back and remodel the character to look exactly or atleast very close to my model sheet.
uneditablepoly: Yeah, my professor had told me the same thing. Thing is I kinda saw her more wide jawed than most woman, something like this : http://www.scifiupdates.com/main/images/stories/profiles/olivia_wilde/photos/olivia_wilde_003.jpg
But the facial features nonetheless do need some refining. Thank you.
