Feels like it's been forever since I posted any 3d on here. Been workin on this guy on and off for the last month, been through several iterations and failed ideas. My first polypaint model as well. Final renders are from max, bit of a rush job but I'm happy with how it came out.
[shameless plug] Special thanks to the nice guys at
valkyrie for the basemesh and help with the beauty render. [/shameless plug]
I made him as an excersize in creating a generic boss monster type creature (though this is pure high poly, not game-res). Scary as hell but with a vulnerable spot that you've gotta nail with your bow and arrow or whatever to take him down (that would be the bulbous bits on his stomach).
and a couple random WIP shots...
stomach variations
early progress shot w/original head idea

Great job dude, is this game ready? ( <-- you answered this, I just didn't pay attention)
Great stuff.
Again, the sculpt is rad. Just a weeeeeeeeeeeeee bit more.
Really inspiring stuff
New head is way better
But I do like your monster. He's looking great so far, man. Nice detail level, and the design is working pretty well. I would have liked to have seen more done with the hands, horns, and spine, though.
Overall, looking really nice. The beauty renders are quite yummy.
I'm getting some pretty unanimous feedback that he could be polished a tad more, especially in the skin color department. I noticed that somewhat during the beauty renders, they were rushed though and we didnt really have time to play with colors much. The files are all at work right now though, I'll dink with em next week and see if I can't polish the last chodes of WIPness off him... probably also try and make the little red bulbouzoids a little more bulbous.
Edit: Maybe he could use some purple (infectious!) rot-looking stuff and veins and such about the wounds, to enhance the skin a bit. But as it is, it's stylized while still being detailed, so I really think it's fine either way. Opinions.
