san andreas on pc

anybody download gta san andreas from Steam?

It seems like the vehicle handling is really poor. cars just start and stop moving on a dime, turn like shit, etc. i remember gta III and vice city had better vehicle handling and theyre older.

anybody experience this problem? do they handle better on console version? ive never played it on console

It's been a while, but I don't remember the vehicle physics being any different in San Andreas than they were in the previous 3d titles and I played both the PS2 and PC versions.

Vehicle physics aren't different but the handling did changed. At least a little. For a more in depth analisys you should take a look at your handling.cfg (inside SA's data folder). But yeah, the vehicles behavior is poor. They feel heavy on turns and most off them are pretty slow. You could download a mod. I know that there are a few really good handling overhaul mods out there.

GTA:SA has pretty hefty sysreqs. Theres a lot more detail than the console version, and I don't think its super optimized for pc rendering n such. I have it.. then I bought the PS2 version so it was more playable. I should try it again now that I have a better system.

It's been a while but I recall the controls being very poor on the PC version as well.
You may try using a game controller if you are playing with a keyboard / mouse.

Driving & Controls were ok on pc.

The performance however, even on monster pc was really poor, some unreasonable lagg and shuttering. I really liked MTA race mod for San Andreas, but the game is not playable anymore (weird).
