First time I found a pixologic plugin pretty useless (at first glance at least !). Exept the very first part of the video with the quick all-in-one 3D/paint-over which could be usefull to do directly in Zbrush, I really don't get why they try to fight against PS or Painter. World domination, maybe
what? what use is that? there are loads of comments saying they really wanted something like this after the video? why ? havent zbrush users heard of photoshop or even gimp? I was wondering wether to buy zbrush in future but this adding of pointless features is really putting me off
It's actually quite nice for sketching with the right settings. Turn your canvas texture to none, set mouse average to 4-8, use one of the pencils (2b is nice) and sketch away. It would be a much more useful tool if you could use more of zbrushes core features with it, like symmetry and lazy mouse to name a couple. Either way its free and could be useful for very quick paintovers.
Well from the beginning, ZBrush wasn't a 3D centered app. So it's a wonderful addition to Zbrush as a whole.
I have used Painter and found it too much for me to quickly jump into and get down with.
Photoshop, a lot of great tools. But not really my ideal choice for sketching out ideas, nor do any of the custom tools out there feel like anything of a traditional medium.
This plugin so far from my expierence, just minutes after it's release. Has been fantastic!
I can scrap both mentioned apps and my real world sketchbook for something that feels like the traditional medium that is easy to jump into and not have to immediately sit around for minutes on end. To customize because the defaults were simply too crappy and mixed up to find a use for.
As it is, Pixologic has stated that the plugin is geared torwards "Traditional Artists" not you silly digital artists :P
