I got it for £12 on Steam about 4 months ago, but thanks for the heads up
TBH I only bought it to look at the art anyway, I haven't played any UT game properly since UT2k3. Played a hell of a lot of UT99 back in the day, but the recent instalments just seem to lack the fun of the old ones, I dunno if that's just me getting old though.
I love the sales like this though, and it's a shame most of these sales are limited to digital distribution vendors like Steam and even iphone, because we bitch about used sales getting so much, but if we dropped the prices more regularly the sales would most likely spike. then again.. digital can't buy used either..
I ask myself every time I see a game that I paid full-price for in the $19.99 bin less than a year later. I think I will stop buying games on their release dates ... except for MW2 of course
Tt depends. most people can't buy games at full price, but the rich kids or the ones that think they are rich, can, so they ask for 50 bucks a pop. buying PC games full price is a very expensive habit, one there is the 50 dollar price tag then their is the cost of getting a machine that can run the game well to consider. I bought unreal 3 for the editor and tutorials, so I thought it was worth the money. I'll pay 50 bucks if I need a game to do research, but I rarely do pay full price. there are plenty of online sites where you can buy them for less and they have good deals once in awhile.
I've payed full price (about 60 € ).
The reason was " The Black Box UT III limited " with CD Bonus , there's 2 years ago.
Some great tutorials there - Get into Unreal Editor !,
...then about 10 times played on line and that's it.
ETQW took the place .
I bought it over a year ago for about $20. It's worth it just for the editor. The game itself feels more like marketing tool for the engine than a fun game. Maybe that's why they're sticking the series on the shelf for a long time.
My philosophy: If the game itself (not the cinematics) look fun, with many gameplay videos, and a well made demo was released, and you enjoyed it...buy it on release.
Else, if the game had tons of pre-rendered cinematics and high budget marketing campains to paint it as something more than it actually is...wait for the bargain bin.

I was thinking the same thing when I read this post. I paid $50 for it! Oh man I am a sucker.
