Brushes is pretty nice.. I found it a bit cumbersome to switch between brushes/opacities and colors, and it takes a while to get used to finger painting on the screen, but it's a cool little app. Definitely worth getting.
Does anyone have any experience with Layers?
I'd been using Colors for a while, which is why I never really looked into Brushes, but when I did a search today, Layers popped up as well. It looks to have all the neat features of Brushes, but with layer support. o_O Unfortunately, like Brushes, the offline viewer is also Mac-only.
As long as Colors! on the DS is pressure sensitive, and has a replay viewer...I still can't convince myself to buy an iPhone/Pod for something like this. Great if you already have one.

I just tried Layers and definitely prefer it. The fact that it supports layers and psd output is a plus. More brush options than colors and brushes too. The mac-only viewer app that lets you output quicktime movies of your paintings would probably piss me off if I were a pc using iphone/touch user but I have a mac too so I guess I can't complain.
It's nothing fancy... just a stick with a soft tip at the end so you don't damage your screen. But it does feel nicer to use sometimes than your finger. Apparently you can use them on a trackpad for a laptop/macbook too. I'd be curious to see how well that works with sketching.
That stylus doesn't look too bad. Might give it a shot. The last stylus I tried had a chiselled tip, which was absolutely horrible to use, since it had to be pretty much flush with the flat end to register.
Didn't realise Layers output to PSD. o_O App Store time! Thanks for the report.
Have any of the users of the Brushes and Layers apps tried the newly released Sketchbook Mobile app for iPhone (from Autodesk)? If so, would you report your comparisons?
the smoothing is very nice on sketchbook mobile, almost to a fault (the pencil especially almost acts like lazymouse). Means you can get nice long strokes, but short strokes are just about impossible with the pencil tool. Feels nice, though. There's also a free version to test it out before dropping the 3 bucks on the full app.
I like Sketchbook Mobile better than Layers or Brushes. Nice feel, symmetry option, an offset option that lets you get away from having your cursor hidden under your finger. Not too bad.
Anyone found a nice stylus? I bought one of them with the soft rubber tip, it's absolutely impossible to use since it only supports tapping, not dragging. Heck, covering it with tinfoil does feel better but still, pretty much useless...

I'd also love an iPhone, but I can't justify a $500 purchase like that.
It's not the initial price of an iPhone that keeps me away, it's the gigantic monthly payment and 3 year lock-in.
I do really want one bad. So I can browse polycount from anywhere! I have no laptop.
Most likely, no need for an iphone for that guys, ipod touch does it all
Step 1: Get an ipod Touch
Step 2: Get this app

There is a stylus you can get for this stuff too.

Touching the screen like that 3h per days, his finger will look my toe
But yes, great App!
Anyone know if you can alter the size or resolution? By default its 512. Might help with better control.
