I was thinking of this also from another point of view, using censorship laws as almost as a barrier to entry into the market. Imagine if WoW was legal kicked off in a big way in China..

This is very unfortunate =( If China wants to indefinitely compete on a global scale and truly surpass the West in terms of quality of life and national standing, many of their policies seriously need to be re-evaluated, even if that means doing away with their current political system as a whole.
