Seriously I didn't know how it was going to turn out but man it is looking fiiine, Bungie have added everything I wanted, darker setting, firefight ( ) and more ODST!!!!!
Graphics look a tad better as well.
Otherwise it looks like the same old Halo. Actually, some of those shots look like Gears of Halo...way desaturated and too much damn bloom.
I'm getting fed up with desaturation and blooming. It's sort of okay once in a while but come on already, the world is not a brown and grey glowing wasteland ffs.
Im not a fan of the large glows and outlines on everything, all the singleplayer stuff Ive seen seems kinda barren and meh. Im sure itll be fun just doesnt make me bust in my pants.
Well...this is DLC for a game; so I dunno if you could call it cashcowing, but it definitely does not mix up the gameplay as much as they initially promised it would. Halo Reach is definitely cashcowing it though.
At first it is awesome, and everyone wants a bite, but as you go on the meat begins to get stale and you start to get tired of that same old sauce, even if there is some random garnishes along the way.
If you manage to keep eating you will probably die of boredom or food poisoning.
The Halo universe has so much to give, though. You do know that getting to play as an ODST has been a very, very frequent fan request ever since Halo 2, right? I'm very happy that they're doing this, and bringing back some mechanics from the first game that a lot of old-time fans have missed. And on top of that, it looks like it's definitely been designed with the four-player coop in mind, which is more than I can say for Halo 3.
Looking forward to it, definitely! Although a new Oni would be awesome...
never understood all the halo hating, good solid games with fun game mechanics and level design that nearly always allows for different approaches (but those flood levels can fuck off)
I liked halo 3, a lot! more than the previous ones, up until the ridiculous flood endcap.
That said, this looks really boring. a more open, empty environment? Draining all of the color that made the art direction cool, leaving us with the same otherwise meh art without the vibrant scheme?
Oh, uh, a silenced gun to use on aliens who take 60 shots to kill while clanking around in armor. that's cool i guess.
I've never really understood the hype around teh Haloz. Cool universe sure, solid game play, you bet. But it just didn't dig itself a magical little happy spot in my pants. I enjoyed them all and this looks fun but its not going to keep me up at night or get me out to a midnight release.
Bungie is a great studio. I'm glad to see them expand on the playable universe beyond master chief. But I really want to see what they do with something new.
I looove me some Halo...absolutely my favourite games ever. It's not for everyone but for a ridonculous amount of people, it is THE game. I'm looking forward to seeing how ODST plays and feels compared to the previous games. I'm cool with whatever Bungie is doing next (post REACH) and I won't feel ripped if Halo is out of their hands. When it's time to move on, it's time to move on.
I agree with Vassago. The bloom is pretty ridiculous. It's like:, "Hey we got a slot now to add glow in our shaders, so we MUST fill it with every model."
Don't get me wrong, I love bloom, but like with scratches; if you aren't subtle with it, stuff starts to bad IMO.
But its an easy fix, and I'm still looking forward to this game.

I laughed.
Same here. I'll play it and probably enjoy it, much like I did Halo 3. But I'm not super excited about it by any means.
I laughed as well!
 at Bungie for continuing with Halo...
Yea, it only made the studio. they should really get rid of that.
just because a game made you as a studio, doesn't mean you can't work on a new IP. this is just cashcowing.

You have to buy one of these Halo's to get a demo of the other one right?
Halo 3 played just like Halo 2, and I imagine these are going to be the same. Wash rinse repeat, new Halo! Yea! Just my 2 cents...
Make a sequel to Oni? :poly142:
Looking forward to it, definitely! Although a new Oni would be awesome...
I bought Halo's 1, 2, and 3. I can only shoot so many grunts, brutes, and elites before I long for something more...

But anyway, glad they showed some shots with colour in it rather then that sepia thing they had going so far, it does look a lot better now, hehe.
Hype + easy to get into + solid game play + compelling visuals + Cool universe + replay ability = LOTS OF $$$$$
another way of looking at it is,
Great PR people + great designers + great designers + great artists + great designers + great designers = LOTS OF $$$$$
