My new art tool addition

Ok well not sure if I can post this here or not, but I've added a new tool to my digital art toolbox. I've finally gotten myself a Wacom tablet. Purchased an Intuos3 6" x 8" tablet this afternoon. Can't wait for it to arrive, so that I can start doing some digital sketching, and painting. Anyway exciting news for me! :poly108:

Yay! I remember deciding to stop spending my money on drugs and alcohol while in uni to buy a wacom bamboo fun, best 200 pounds ever spent. Altough it pissed me the hell off when I first got it.

Just got one a couple of weeks ago, love the damn thing. My girlfriend says I love it more than her, that cant be good news... lol.

Haha no that definitely isn't good news. But you gotta figure she's just mad that your not spending as much time with her as before. lol

Great! I think you'll find 6x8 is the perfect size. My sister has a 9x11 but even that's too much imo - and she seems to prefer my tablet as well.

Go for the Wacom, they last longer than girls do.

Can anyone suggest some tutorials for me to run through while getting up to speed with my new tablet?

Can't think of any videos, but some quick pointers for ya if you're using photoshop:

Set your brush settings so pen pressure affects pen opacity rather than size, then use the bracket keys to adjust size. This is the most accepted setting for drawing with a wacom. Aside from that just play with some brushes, some you'll want to set to adjust size rather than opacity.

Also make sure you go into your pressure settings under your wacom settings in the start menu to customize how hard you have to press with your wacom.

Just try and use it for as much as you can, youll soon get use to it. Its great for ZBrush, always hated using a mouse in that.

Ah ok thanks for the advice guys. I think I'll try to use it atleast 15-20 minutes a day and work on my 2d skills along with texturing skills. Ugh but at this rate I'm gonna go crazy waiting on it to arrive. UPS is so damn slow.
