This is quite easily on my GOTY list, without even playing the damn thing. The most visually appealing game I've seen in years, the gameplay looks fantastic from what I've seen thus far. Great job everyone at Vigil!
I'll be purchasing this game on release regardless!
Well, I'm kinda torn on this one. I hate joe madureira, I can't stand the vast majority of his work, artistically speaking. But the game looks like massive fun. Yeah, war looks like Prince Arthas of Spawn, and the other horsemen sketches were the worst horsemen designs I've ever seen. But the game looks right up my alley. I love boss battles, I love kicking ass with a single character, I love all that old school gameplay shit. It's fun.
And the cinematics are crazy!! The artists making those are just amazingly good, huge props to them. I can't wait to play this game.... Wait, NO pc version? LAME!!!!
I don't know the health of Jeremy's family, but I sure as hell wish Madureira hadn't followed Bryan Hitch on Ultimates 3. Dude left everyone hanging on Battle Chasers, dropped out of comics for 6 or 7 years, and then randomly pops back in to take manga-style dump on the best drawn book in the Ultimates universe. Bleh.
The game looks cool, but I find the concept a little off-putting. I'm not at all a religious guy, but rolling around as a horseman of the apocalypse? Really?

trailer looks awesome, and i think rolling around as a one of the horsemen would be pretty fricken sweet. As long as you get to kill the good people that just weren't baptized, they must burn in hell.
As far as I know the game takes place after humanity has been completely exterminated from Earth and the story and action only deal with (mostly fictional) supernatural characters.
I searched for video of gameplay myself, since I can never judge a game by Blur's Cinematics.
Gameplay looks very much like Devil May Cry and God of War. Only now Biblical. You play as the demonic representation of War itself, instead of a God. Until now I thought the name of the game was simply Darksiders, but they added two more common game terms. They could easily change it to "Dark Realm of Wrath: Age of War" before it's released.
That said, visually the game looks impressive. The urban scenes feel like Gear of War, but with more visual clarity. The character designs are top notch, tho I'm not a big fan of the main character's appearance. Good use of color throughout the game. Definitely worth checking out. A great acheivement from the studio's first title.
I basically agree with what Vermilion said. No he didn't eat my family, but he did help kill my enthusiasm for comic books, by dumping on his fans by disappearing for a year or so, coming back, getting all high and mighty about his fans that called him on it.
He does have talent as a penciler but, and I know I'll take a lot of crap for this, the vast majority of his designs are just 2-3 other character mashed up into one, or blatantly ripped off from something else. but it's ok, "inspiration comes from where it comes from", his blanket excuse for taking designs from other artists. Sometimes he does have a gem, as evident in this game. Some of those bosses are incredible. The jailer for example is an amazing design. But those are more rare than the other.
But whatever. It doesn't matter. If it was for the pc, I'd still buy the game. Maybe I'll have a 360 by the time it comes out.
I'm definitely interested in seeing how this title shapes up. Looks very cool, the trailer was badass except;
Maybe its just me, but the flashes between action and black is annoying, it's obviously one continuous scene, so why can't they just do it that way rather than making it feel like you're watching it on a fritzy tv that turns off and on every second? Seems like one of those shitty 'ooo extreme cool' effects thats really just lazy...
You sure? The intro cinematic shows War arriving on the scene mere minutes after some creatures arrived and started laying waste to everything.
Those creatures aren't human. In the interviews about the game, they state humans are gone. Maybe there are a few hiding somewhere, otherwise why would War care to do anything? The story is kinda flaky, but still looks like fun.

did he eat your family?
Man, the main character is THICK, he's even chunkier than a gears of war character.

Great action games are always very short.

Horrible re-encoding by Gametrailers as usual... they simply butcher everything we do
