I wanted to try and create something entirely in Zbrush, going from zspheres all the way to painting it. So I decided to try making a bust, but before I started trying to paint this I was hoping to get some critiques.
If this is your first Zsphere attempt it's a lot better than mine lol. Ok, now to the constructive crit.
It looks like the jaw is a bit narrow. Kratos has a fucking huge lower mandible as seen here. You might want to push in for the temples and pull out the forehead a bit, because it looks like there's some missing definition there. Also, the eye with the scar has a bit more of a flat area on the bottom eyelid.
Give it another pass or a couple more passes before you move on to texturing. Try using some sharper alphas, remember, he is literally chiseled like a Greek god.
I would honestly skip the high frequency details at the moment and fix the anatomy a bit. Aside from Matt's suggestions, you seem to have a rather large gap between the eyesocket and the eye. I would also refine the front of the cheek leading into the nose, that whole area is essentially flat. The ear and the neck are begging for refinement as well. Take your time and don't get in a rush to finish it. Keep it up.
Thanks for the critiques guys, I tried implementing the things you recommended. I reworked the eyesocket and cheek bone, made the jaw wider, worked on the neck, and the forehead/temple area.
Looks alot better then the previous one but a few things I noticed are his scar is to "fat" and not long enough, I believe the top of his head should be bigger/longer (http://www.gamercenteronline.net/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/kratos.jpg) also his facial hair is wrong also you need the top lip to have an indent in the middle and the indent between that and the nose... sorry for the lack of description on that im not very good w/ anatomy :S looking forward to seeing more updates i'm a huge fan of God of War :P
I decided to not paint it in Zbrush and to use the head as the high poly for a game quality model that I will texture in photoshop. Here is the start of the high poly of the body. The head isnt Kratos, and I haven't worked on the hands and feet yet so thats y there cut off atm.
The hips are too wide like a female which is making his legs and crouch area spread way too far out. Reduce that wide gap in the crouch so he looks proportioned.
So I thickened up the neck and realized he had no eyebrows so I added those too. Also I went in and just accentuated some detail. This is going to be my final pass at this bust because I'm going to be working on a Norse version of Kratos I'm working on the concept atm. So keep an eye out for a Norse Kratos thread in the near future.

Then maybe send it in to David Jaffe as fan art.
