Yeah, crediting is un-neccesary here. Firstly, he's doing a Joan of Arc tut. So he's probably pretty new to CG, so he probably doesn't know about all the hoops he has to jump through to keep nerds on the internet from forming a lynching squad.
Secondly, we all know of the Joan of Arc tut, so its not as any of us is going to be 'tricked'; and thirdly he never stated it was his design.
Nice modelling mate. I think you have some issues around the chest area though.
fuck the credit. EVERYONE knows it's from a tutorial. He probably knows everyone knows.
cyborgkatana -- i think you did a pretty nice job here! well done. The face could be a little bit smoother and more human, and the legs kinda bow in a little bit too, by the looks of things... but yeah, great job. give it a texture, or grab another piece of concept (or do one yourself) and give it another go! I'm sure that you're ready to do a model without a tutorial and it'll turn out great.
Eh i just get tired of people that dont even post any comments in thier threads... This guy has a history of this if you check his back threads.
He has barely shown recognition for large amounts of help he has received in other threads.
Man i know your reading this, people will respect you ALOT more if you actually start explaining yourself, and posting positive things in return around the forum. We arent scarey people. Loosen up and enjoy yourself around here man.
You're getting bad advice in here. Nice personal touches to this, and for your portfolio, don't do portfolios like other people do, just about every artist out there is doing it wrong. They do not respect the rules of indexing, they know very little about how to have a successful and attractive site (not using 'attractive' visually here...).
Also, kinda noticing how stupid, dirty, and competitive wannabe-game-artists are. And how full of themselves. Don't mind them. I wouldn't hire any of them when I see how high-school girly they are gossiping. If I had to work with them, they'd end up fired, or punched.

So mortal human, you would rather an artist that just gives you random images without a word than ones that attempts to further the community? At first we were polite, but when a dude can ignore a polite call for comments like that, yet he doesnt say a word, what the hell does that say for the artist.

uhhhhh and you are who??
way to make your first ever post on polycount a positive one. If you yourself are ever looking to get involved in the game industry I reckon you dont say retarded shit like this on our forum.

I lol'd he deleted it? Or is my message board format screwed.
I think the OP should just talk and we can just crit his work regardless of the popular tutorial and all that crazy buisness.
Shrink her head just a little.
Fix the legs from the knee down (they bow inward in the posted pictures)
Post a profile picture of the model; her spine looks to straight and it looks like she is leaning forward. It's hard to tell in the posted pics.
Its good that you did delete it (I read it). People certainly don't want to think you arrogant in any way. I asked if you had a site or something cause you seem pretty confident in yourself. Wanted to see if you could back that up with work.

I agree. I did think he seemed arrogant but it's good to realize ...mistakes.
What a weird thread. Hehe.
Yea, exactly. Also, after posting, I even noticed some of what I read was taken wrong by me. That wasn't my first post here, either. When I said bad advice, I did not mean in the whole thread, nor the forums outside of the thread. Just some things that seemed at the time really arrogant in themselves, unsure now but it's not worth a bicker.
I get away with sharing some work in game modding for fun when I'm bored or want to try something new and not be spending time unsure if it'll work the way I imagine etc, but for the most part I'm not supposed to show mine. I still have a lot to learn myself.
Mistakes indeed realized. Reading the topic again, I can't believe how I comprehended things at first
But if I was that dude, I meant that part: I'd be chased away. Also many pages on your site is never a bad thing with many others competing for the same indexes
I only joined here for friendships though, so I'm sorry if anyone is mad!
Mortal human, how are WE ill informed? As far as I see it we are all makin' a fuss about this is because of three reasons :
1 - The model is based of a tutorial that is quite well known and may not be taken in the right way on a folio or whatever
2- EVERYTIME you post on polycount (especially when a person is new) it's good to ...say Hello even. Just that is better than nothing at all.
3- I've been reading this thread and I see know bad advice what so ever...
It's not worth explaining, it will derail this topic and turn into a feud about what others believe to be true, and why it holds them back. Again, just friends.

It would be helpful if you could provide some tips/examples on how to make a successful and attractive site, I'd like to know more about this "indexing" thing you seem to value so much. I dont even know what it is so I guess you're right that I know very little on this topic
Thanks
btw wannabe game artists have to be competitive, its a very competitive field to break into... But I'm not sure why you call us stupid and dirty

it could be that actually he does take criticism on board, and just applies it to his next piece?
since this is the first WE'VE seen, we just don't know. so how about we stop being asshats. if you don't like that he's not talking, then don't talk yourself. there's plenty of other threads to piss on.
I think the face textures can look a little more on par with the body armor. As it stands, the textures are making the model really pop but the face still looks a little plain visually.

Also dont put anything like that in your portfolio, for anyone that knows that it was made from a tutorial it is a major turnoff.
Just choose your top work. place it on the front page.
So everybody directly sees the work you think is your best work and he/she doesnt have to browse through endless pages.
w3rd
That made my night!
And I agree with HAL.

I lol'd. I think CeeBee means cyborgkatana dude.
Yeah, well, that Katana dude.. I think he's just ignorant or some shizz like that.
It's a decent model but with all that tutorial buisness it doesn't help really.
KATANA!! SPEAK! SPEAK YOU FOOL!
"so mr katana, how long did this peice take you?"
*silence*...
Haha, epic.

What does your portfolio site look like?

Advice is up to the beholder to judge.
Anyway, I'm about to model this tard: http://www.gerardkellycarnival.com/images/sections/white-knight.jpg

I don't get what this guy is trying to say... he said we were giving the OP bad advice..
I'm confused...
this guy obviously isn´t responding to any "suggestions", as a quick googleing revealed..
somesort of 3d-troll..

he doesn't defend himself so it's fun! like punching retards!
Exactly Adam ;P
