1. of all , HEY =D
been quite a long time since i was around here so yeaaah....
annyway
im helping a bit out on a modding project for the good ol HL1 engine and we´re creating the maps in max
sux for me since im acutally a lightwave user and im not really good with max .
anyway heres the story:
im trying to put some random rocks and cactuses and stuff in a desert map with the scatter tool since placing them manually would take like...forever xD
andways heres the problem ,
the scatter tool sorta flips the resource object ( the cactus in that case ) on the side and scatters it in that position which isnt exactly what i want obviously
and i cant figure out how to fix that >_>
i was thinking, since the cactus model is an imported OBJ file created in lightwave and its flipped on the side when importing to max that it´s cause of that and maybe the pivot is of so i positioned the pivot in the centre after rotating it the right way n all but still the same problem .
so yeah anybody know what the problem could be ?
sorry for the bad explanation i might post some sceens later im im back at my PC
well hope somebody knows what the problem could be , i might try out some stuff later on but well cant do that atm ^^
so anyway thx in advance and have a nice day

Object Paint is pretty nice https://help.autodesk.com/view/3DSMAX/2024/ENU/?guid=GUID-2C745521-EAD4-4A9E-A2CF-7A4B6DDC486D
Array modifier is the newest tool. https://help.autodesk.com/view/3DSMAX/2024/ENU/?guid=GUID-A3E4BBDD-31BC-4207-8F10-77C693E29341
There's also MassFX and Particle Flow for simulations. And there are some scattering tools in the Tools menu.
cheers!
