This is probably one of the most basic things in the book, but I would like to create a Light Map for a character. My ultimate goal is to pull that map into Photoshop and use it as reference for my shadows on the color map itself. I've seen this done once with 3DS Max, and the results were pretty awesome. I would like to try something similar.
I'm using Maya 8.5, and have Googled this issue till my fingers bled with no solid results. I was wondering if any of you could give me a quick rundown of how to do this, please!

Lamont - I was not aware that ambient occlusion was synonymous with 'light map' in Maya...it looks like what killingpeople posted was what I was looking for, however. Thank you for replying!
