I have no clue how many hours of class you had but the first video lacks alot of basic animation knowledge. Timing and weight mostly. In terms of pleasure, the first video is't very enjoyable. The camera does weird things and is very distracting and we miss some of the action because of it.
I'm no animator but i had animation classes as well so all the above is only based on the small portion i know. Take it with a grain of salt.
the second one is really scary. i watched it here in the dark on a big screen which helped of course, but it really freaked me out for a bit, even though there's nothing really happening - it's very tense. only thing i don't understand is the part where the camera floats a bit - right after you enter the second room, the camera loses its first person feel for a while
very atmospheric though - beats a lot of high budget movies in term of fright, even with -ahem- less then sublime graphics. it's a pity the secondary room is only showed so briefly: the first room feels really empty and there seem to be more props in the second room, feels a bit like misplaced effort because the sink and toilet(am i seeing them right) are only such a small part of the video.
and who says you can't redo them? i say you can - i think the creepy one would make a cool second try: shows improvement over yourself etc and you could push even more scaryness out of it.

why is the first one called a better mousetrap?
