No idea if I'll have time to even start modelling this, let alone finish it in 9 days!

Quick doodle, heavily cribbing from something called a Vectrix concept superbike (google it if you're interested), I think it's got some nice chunky shapes and lines.

Very slick MoP, and I agree with snipergen the colors are perfect. Slap some decals on there and cover it with more product placement then you can shake a stick at and you have yourself a jet moto bike for sure.

I like everything except the propulsion unit. Seems a tad too heavy and fragile when it's sticking out like that.
Perhaps making it more compact and moving closer to the rest of the bike?

AimBiZ: Yeah, maybe it does stick out too much. I'll see how it looks once the model is done, it should be easy enough to scale or shift position if it still doesn't look right.

Here's a quick WIP of blocking in the main panel shapes. Still a lot of the bulk of the thing missing, but I like where it's headed.

Looks great mop, the headlight details should look sweet when you bake em down. For some reason the more I look at the updated pics the more it reminds me of a puffin, and I love puffins lol.

hey mop, lookin cool, but i have a few notes. First off, I like the concept a bit better than the model atm. For example, the glassy looking part right under the windshield and handlebars on the concept, I imagined that was a clear panel you could look through to see engine bits maybe.

I also noticed that the handlebars don't look like they'll be able to turn. It looks like you're attaching it to something solid. Although I could be wrong on that. I can see one way of it working but it looks complicated...

Yeah, haha, I haven't actually even thought about how the handlebars will work yet... IT'S ALL CONTROLLED BY COMPUTERS

And yeah, I was planning on playing around with the semitransparent panels, when I did the concept I wasn't intending it to be like that, but it ended up having that effect, Pior said he liked the translucence and I was like "what translucence? ...ohhh I see"!

The materials and colours are all very WIP right now, there may yet be clear panels with engine bits showing through! Would be a devil to get it looking right in a game though, I fear

heh, yea, the majority of the entries don't allow movement for steering. Or anything that the steering would affect, like a fin or adjustable engine position (me included).

I've been slow. Probably won't even finish the high-poly by the deadline, let alone low-poly / bake / textures.
It's turned into something I want to spend a fair while on and make it really good, if possible.

Whoa, nice progress MoP! Looks rawking! I like the big bulky main shape, that gives it a nice funtional look as a jetmoto. Combined with the smaller seat and control unit gives it that nice racer look.

Sweet work dude, I like how you incorporated everything so well, everything feels like a solid peice, I think the dashboard is rockin awesome. With the jet engine in mind, I think this can become a mighty peice in your portofolio alongside your characters.

*facepalms* How ever do I forget about the shell modifier... I've been doing all the part joints via edge extrusion. ... still getting used to max.

This really is a sick looking bike Mop. Be cool to see it all finished up, whether it makes the deadline for the comp or not.

Is there a shell modifier knockoff for maya? (or even a better edge extrude where poles are concerned would be nice)

hah, throttlekitty - I wish! I keep meaning to write a plugin or script to do something like that, but never spent much time researching it yet. Doing an Extrude on all faces has the same result initially (and gives you flexibility if it's a mesh output rather than an input), but tends to be flaky and make Maya crash in my experience.

I haven't come across anything yet where you can use a "profile spline" like Max though. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough.

I need to try compiling some sort of plugin to get my feet wet there, and see if I can cobble something together.
