yeah im not sure what to make of this yet. cartoon was great so i really hope the film does well, but i dont really understand why theyd chose m night shyamalan to direct it
i bet the UK distributors are cursing the jim cameron Avatar film that got to the decent title first, since "airbender" sounds very much like a playground insult. "Get off me you airbender" and so on. H-ho
M Night Shyalaman though. Man alive, he's chronic.
ive gotta say that i dislike the cartoon\anime whatever it is... but i LOVE night, he is such a fresh fun director that makes thing that bit different.. i am actually looking forward to this \o/
from what i gather from this trailer it seems that this will end up being one of those movies that will just become bitter eye candy. looking nice but being filled with a BS story from M Night Shitinacan. Especially considering his last dreadful foul up The Happening.
Loved the series, hate hate HATE the director. The fucking ego on the guy. I mean, it's not "The Last Airbender", it's "M. Night Shamwow's The Last Airbender". Fuck the guy. Hope it turns out good though.
It didn't bother me about the casting choices (no idea who any of them are) until they got all the negative feedback and felt like they needed a more ethnic cast. So they go back and cast the wrong ethnicities, even to the point where they now have multi ethnic families. Father is white, uncle is Iranian, and son is Indian. WTF.
I saw the trailer at movies when I went to see the transformers. I'm scared of the director too! He seems so out of place for this movie. I'm glad they are making it. At first I was like, don't tell me they are making a dbz movie and that's goku... LOL
i think i've only watched the first episode, and not even all of that, but doesn't this take place not on earth? are there still distinctive races, ie: these dudes are chinese and these dudes are whities and them over there are aussies?
completely ignorant of the rage that should be building inside me, i thought the trailer looked like something i might enjoy.
I never saw the series, nor did I see The Happening, but I've enjoyed his movies, albeit his ego did start inflating when The Village came out. Now if he is doing this because his daughter liked the series like Kaskad mentioned, I think it could be a good flick. I enjoyed Lady In The Water, and he did that one for his kids, and it was also different from any of the other films he made previously. The tone of the teaser is pretty interesting, so I would probably go check it out. Besides, it's a teaser, it shouldn't be a determining factor of scratching it off the grocery list just yet. However, I hate Bruckenshithammer, and that makes me not want to see PoP, so if you don't like Shamwow, I totally hear ya.
They need to make Bebop or OS... those would be damn amazing films in the right hands.
Well dragon ball and dragon ball Z are different. in DBZ goku is an adult. and you all you see is them getting ready to take a crap and scream a lot... I mean them getting ready to fight and power up...
If you didn't see the happening, here's the short version: people start killing themselves and it turns out that it's the trees releasing kill yourself chemicals into the air. . . . Yep, just regular green trees. There are lots of shots of trees that are supposed to be scary. Like "oh fuck it's a tree run away!". The second half of the movie is people running away from. . . . . Wait for it. . . . . The breeze.
Cameron is doing Avatar... an extremely unfortunately named film that is completely separate from Avatar: The Last Airbender (hence why they've dropped Avatar from the title for this film. Also it gives Shamwow more room for his name since let's be honest: his name is more important than the film itself).
So that's actually problem #1: A director whose name is more important than his directing.
Problem #2 being that the various ethnic influences in Airbender were extremely important to the show. Completely disregarding that means the source material is clearly being considered as irrelevant. Ignoring the source material = bad movie. Bad movie + Shamwow = extremely bad movie.
He can say he's doing it for his kids, but if his kids don't mind him turning blatantly Inuit characters into generic white hollywood kid stars then his kids are pretty freaking easy to please. This isn't going to be so-bad-it's-funny, or so-bad-it's-classic. It's just going to genuinely bad. Probably have some nice CG and a couple good action sequences. Won't have any depth or soul. This is the last airbender.
I would totally go see it if Morgan Freeman was Appa, though.
james cameron is doing a movie called Avatar that has absolutely nothing to do with the show Avatar, its something about scifi outer space and some crap, he went on and on about it at E3 for 45 mins, very very boring.
to be honest the only movie I liked from Shymalan was the sixth sense. I sort of liked the village, I found it interesting, the ending anyway, I wasn't expecting it at all... The rest of his movies were like wft kind of ending was that. I thought the happening was very lame, if I had to see it several time I would probably want to kill myself, like with a lawn mover...
shymalan can't make movies that are not sad, it seems to be his talent..

Plus Avatar is bad. . . hmm. I admit the trailer is cool. Maybe poo + poo will equal gold.

Woohoo, white washing! We don't need no stinkin' source material.
I mean if it's true, it probably bodes better for the source material
yes
and then i will
