But next time I'll also have a tablet at my disposal, so it should be easier. Anyway, this is my first finished normal mapped project, I'm rather happy with the result except for that lowpoly handle at the back of the shield that would really need to be modeled. The material is also perhaps too clean, but hopefully the specularity will blind you and you won't notice the problem.

1024x1024 normal map texture tiled over the whole thing for micro details / dents.
This is pretty nice. It's a simple object, but it is carefully made. It's clean and the rendering and materials work great. Considering how much texture space you've used, it could be a little sharper, but that's a minor point really.

Just because he didn't sculpt it, doesn't mean that it's not normal mapped. He could have created the normals in gimp.
