It's a series about Vampires in the modern world; HBO, Sunday nights at 9. I highly suggest snagging the first season on DVD or torrent/whatever. Alan Ball has done a great job thus far with this series.
Yeah I'm going to catch up on this tonight. I'm really curious to see what happens to Lafayette!
That aside True Blood is a terrific show and has been bumped to one of my favorite programs to watch right next to Lost and Fringe. I highly recommend this show to those who have HBO and are looking for something new, exciting, and sexy. Good stuff all around and very enjoyable, I can see this becoming the next cult classic.
I just discovered this in the HBO on demand section of my cable. Watched the whole first season over 4 days or so(yay unemployment)and I am completely hooked. I remembered seeing ads up at the Con last year, but assumed it would be some cheesey vampire show, ala Twilight.
It's actually a really well-done show, one of the best I've seen in a long time. The characters are all believable, interesting and well-written. I haven't had a show that I just couldn't miss in a long time and this is definitely one. Fucking love it, sooo good.
Yes, this season seems to be off to a damn good start... I think Lafayette will be turned..
\If Marianne is the girl who had sex with Merlotte/the shapeshifter then I put her as the Devil himself. She tempts everyone it seems people have sold their soul to her in exchange for different things possibly.
I read that this has become HBO's most successful show since The Sopranos and Sex and the City. Sadly though, it hasn't really taken off until people heard about the second season, because no one even knew it was on!
This show always gets me with the ending of the episodes. They never seem like they should end, I always feel like I'm gonna get to see more. Probably because I'm so used to watching series on DVD.
Yeah, so far Marianne seems to be the biggest mystery, and a good one at that because she has Tara fully brainwashed, history with Sam and a man-servant. What do you guys think of more of Anna Paquin's boobs? Of course it's welcome, but it seems like they are trying too hard to make it a selling point of the show. As for Lafayette, in the series of novels the show is based on, his character dies near the beginning of the second book, which is sort of where the series is at, I guess. It's very possible he will just die, but I do wonder what he was captured for. Do they think it was him that killed that lame Vampire that was being held hostage?

That seems like a stretch since we've only seen one episode. Not to mention that the show isn't exactly shy about showing off the female form given the other cast members past and present.
So well see if things become more gratuitous as the season goes along ^_^.
They are making a second series of this atrocious show?
In my opinion this show is actually worse than the show Heroes has become!
Hey caseyjones did you watch the entire season, or give up on it after only a few episodes? A friend of mine only got through three episodes before tuning out but I convinced her to keep watching and she eventually came around. Now it's one of her favorite programs! Mind you this show isn't for everyone and it's certainly an acquired taste.
I watched the entire first season, I struggled, but I watched it all.
When I first heard of the show, I was actually really pumped to watch it as I really like the concept of the show. But the more I watched, the less I enjoyed it.
The main reasons why I didn't like it is that the show was that it was too predictable. If you have an IQ over 1, you'll be able to follow the show without any trouble. And just about every character in the show annoyed the living crap out of me!
I could honestly rant for days about why I disliked the show, but I won't shit on this thread as I can see its more of a discussion about the second season.
If someone starts a "How shit is True Blood!" thread, I'll be all over that bitch
The supporting cast / characters are the best part of the show, I think - specifically Lafayette, Michelle Forbes and the other vampires. Man, when Michelle Forbes starts vibrating all crazy-like, it always freaks me out.

0.o thanks for that.

I heard that Alan Ball had mentioned that he wanted to stay true to the novels for the first season, but take it in another direction after that. Here's hoping that's true, 'cause I really want to see Lafayette get turned.
btw...LOL at the "when I was at summer camp..." scene.
So I'm putting money on Bill glamoring that family into forgetting the whole incident.
I think Eric and his crew are gonna feed on Lafayette for awhile before he either gets saved or gets turned.
Waiting an entire week for another episode with an ending like that is torture!
it IS vampire porn.. and there's a LOT of sex and tits for no reason what so ever... which really, really, really feels like i'm a fucking dog getting thrown a garbage piece of meat.
buuuuuuut. i like the show for other reasons. I'll be watching it, with my fingers crossed...

I felt the same way. I really wanted them to focus more on the vamipres, instead of rogue's brother doing v and banging everything that moves.
Geezus: It's not the nekkid wimmenz that is what bugs us, it's the insult to our intelligence, like we're only watching for boobs and sex and that that is how they're gonna keep the audience. Also good prediction with what Bill will do. Hadn't considered that angle.
Josh: Ya, but now he has an excellent story of his own going. Crazy anti-vampire cultist. I liked all of the stuff with him and keeping the vampire hostage too, though.
Sookie and Bill's relationship is getting kind of annoying. One of them does something stupid then they end up hating each other for like an episode and then we will get to see more boobs in the makeup sex. I've kind of liked Sookie's parts the least since the middle or end of last season. Wish they kept Sookie out of the Jessica stuff. It's like she walks around in a daze making bad decisions and they just use her to tie everyone's arcs together.
hahah just watched the latest episode, pretty awesome. the over the top gore was pretty suprising, hopefully they continue to ramp up everything over the previous season. im really interested to find out what that marian chick is and what other kinda creatures they will introduce.
oh yea and you just know jason is gonna rail that lil pig tailed chick haha, the prime definition of temptation.
Great show. My wife and I really enjoy watching it.
The waitress probably is the (demon?). It looks like she was the victim of a previous attack which turned her into one of those creatures. Sookie probably would have turned into one too if she had not been rescued.
Overall I'm really enjoying season 2. It feels like the pace has picked up.
I don't know if the waitress is the one that attacked her. They were "20 miles out of Bon Temps" at the time. She has definitely been attacked by one and was definitely recently introduced. It could be that she is one now and when they discover them, that's how she'll be brought into it. It could also just be that she's a drone, which would explain why she sucks at being a waitress. Anyway, Jason and Tara are finally both getting some sense.
Why was there an f'ing wii infomercial in the middle of this? I mean why was it even there? Who would have put it there? Honestly, I want to know, is hbo that hard up for cash since this is pretty much the only show they have left?
Anyway, I don't think it was the waitress, my money is on the demon sex godess (anyone else read sandman? Pretty much what I'm thinking with her); and whats up with that big ass pig?

I found the Wii commercial out of place too. Didn't bother me too much, it just felt kinda forced.
I kinda dug the fact that he asked if she wanted to play Wii. It didn't feel out of place to me. Plus, thinking of Bill playing Wii bowling is just funny.
Am I the only one who think Jessica is the best character this season? It's interesting seeing her fight her instinct with what her "maker" is forcing her to be. Plus...Jessica and Hoyt...cute.
Damn 4th of July Weekend, forcing us to wait 2 weeks for a new episode! ><
edit: I think the new Waitress actually being the Minotaur/Demon/Whatever is way too obvious. They were far away from Bon Temp, and I thought it looked more like a man's body anyhow. She's obviously tied in, but I'd bet she is some sort of minion to it.

Ok out of plae infomercial aside, really where did it come from? Vampire Bill doesn't even use a friggin toaster, so where did he get a wii? I'd slightly understand it if he got it for whatsher name on his shopping trip but it was already there before he got home, so alL im saying is it doesn't make any sense.
meh, I thought of it as something he picked up for Jessica to kinda fill that "I'm a Dad now...what do kids like?" sort of role. Especially since he forces her to stay in that dank house all the time. Either way, it was a whole 20 seconds of Wii talk. I wouldn't care if Sookie stared right into the camera while slurping down a delicious gulp of ice cold Pepsi.
Now Im really curious to see what the hell it was that attacked Sookie (I doubt it was the waitress). Hopefully well get to see other creatures like werewolves this season as well as Im sure that would add a whole new dynamic to the show.
Aside from that this was a cool episode that had a bit of everything for fans of the series.

Agreed, this season has been kick ass. They preview Eric harassing Lafayette in the next episode. I wonder what that's all about.
Sam makes mention to Werewolves in season 1, when Sookie finds out about what he is. We're led to believe he's had encounters with them, and thinks of them as evil creatures.

What, you don't think Eric would just let him go that easily do you? Sookie and Bill will be out of town, he can just get Lafayette back without them knowing. I half expected him to be waiting at Lafayette's place to take him back right away.
Well we've already sort of seen 2 creatures this season that aren't vampires. There's marianne and now the ram headed thing. Plus shapeshifters and telepathics from last season. And iirc, when they were looking at sookie's wounds they mentioned werewolf attack and ruled it out. I'm sure there will continually be more supernatural creatures introduced.
Thought it was a great opening to the new season. You could tell that Bill was a bit rattled when he heard he was in werewolf-saturated Mississippi. Should make for an interesting season.
Good books, it's best she go ahead and watch the series first, then read the books. Reading the books first spoiled everything for me, so I stopped watching after the first two episodes.
Season 2 was completely retarded. They dragged on that horribly lame plot for far too many episodes. Season 3 is pretty cool so far. Last night was the best yet of the season IMO.

Vampire porn... shitty southern accents.. whats not to like.
I'll stab ya, Dekard, I swear.....I'll stab ya.
@ae: I keep wanting them to turn Lafayette, but I think it's too obvious. I think Sukie ends up doing Eric that favor in return for Lafayette's life.

Dead in Dixie, if you care to read instead of watch.
Demon attack on Sookie? The waitress I think is the demon that attacked Sookie.
More thoughts, opinions of the episode?

started it out great! episode itself was a bit fast paced, felt short Want more! I sense a McNulty-Ribbon-Killer-like fiasco with Eric & the Queen.
Stop checking out Eric's ass, dude... :P

But yeah looks like it will be an interesting season for sure..
I bought my wife all the books for xmas this past year but she hasn't read them yet.
May be the best ending of any episode of any TV show ever?
"We will eat you after we eat your children. Now time for the weather... Tiffany?"
