We all work with people we don't like at one point or another. Sounds like you're stuck until the project is over, then it sounds like you're free to cut your ties and move onto greener pastures. I would consider that a fortunate learning experience. It underscores the need to make sure people are compatible on a human level before getting legally or financially tethered to them.
It might not be a good idea to post in a public forum your grievances with a person who in vindictive, but maybe you're masochistic?

You are going to make money on a short film? Has this ever been done? Generally they aren't known as money makers, and I would absolutely avoid taking any "payment from profits" if it's at all a pain in the ass. Unless he is actually cutting you weekly or per-shot checks, don't ever think that you'll see a dime. So if you've got something better to do (work on portfolio), you may want to consider it.

If you're teaming up with someone that calls themselves a, "Lead", "Director" or whatever the shit it is they like to call themselves, yet have absolutely no skill-set to show why they deserve such a title, then tell them to fuck off and move on.

Really good advice. It's just such a waste of time to dump months and months (sometimes years) into projects that are really hopeless. They probably won't make you money, and they suck up valuable time that could be spent learning.
I haven't seen your project that you're talking about, so I don't know. But it really sounds like the shit I used to get involved with when I was 18-25. They were all so hopeless it was laughable. I guess they were fun friendship building endeavors, but that's about all I can say. I wish I'd spent that time just working on pure technique.
On the positive side, deluding yourself into thinking you're making the next huge indie thing is a real ego-jacking-off experience.
