Hi all!
Just started a Vimeo account to put some timelapses up.
I keep them fairly small so far (800*450, but somehow they show much smaller on the Vimeo page?) but hopefully soon they'll be actual HD.
First is some retopology done in Maya with Make Live, also demoing FunkyBunnies universal toolbar :

Next is a bit of a concept art hack, using the Advanced Painter script for 3DSMax to get instant feedback for character design. It looks like neon/tron stuff but the goal really is to define material boudaries and such for later more accurate modelling. It's also easier to use than 3D painting solutions since it is then possible to copy paste elements, plus there is no need to define a whole complex texture setup.

I wont record audio or make them actual tutorials - it's more like over the shoulder stuff.
Also on a side note. I am using Hypercam to record stuff (to Xvid) then VirtualDub to edit out stuff and crop. But that makes it compressed two times in a row, not very good. But I don't think I can afford doing raw uncompressed video for the recording stage, it will just be too huge on disk. What else can I do? Would Fraps work well to record both 3d viewport, extra windows, and cursor motion?
Thanks!

Good videos btw ! Does this spagetti thing is build in splines? Could be cool to setup armor and suit design shapes then apply a surface modifier on it !
Scoob, yes obviously this would be possible aswell, and might be cleaner. However with these lines here I can easily control their thicknes, I can also smooth and relax them, even FFD them But most importantly I can duplicate them in space (shoe example). I understand that all this and more could be done in Z thanks to some smart workarounds (using the extraction tools for instance) but it is quite convenient to have it all in simple 3D still.
RG I think it's is spline based indeed (I didn't even pay any attention to that detail hehe). Do you have a visual example of the surface modifier used in the way you suggest?
Anyways, new one, better format too. Timelapse 2x
I start from a very rough sculpt showing some suggestions of bones and muscle - nothing very subtle and not very highres either at that point. The vid covers the retopo process in Topogun, to create a much more sculpt friendly mesh. Some areas will also remain like so in the final game mesh.

More to come later ...
nevermind
We all have, but ffs for the hell of it you could have done it ! :poly142:

Trying more stuff with Advanced Painter, but way too long a cleanup afterward. Will use parallel curves + cross section next time!!
Also showing some turbosmooth tricks.

Comes with music too :P
(timeline seems fucked up, it really is just 5 minutes long, not 20!)

Workflow streamlining ftw!
BTW didn't you use to have some funky Daft Punkish music in your videos? I miss that. The videos I had a look at were all silent T_T
