Hey guys,
i've finished making the texturing tutorial....
Cannon Texturing Tutorial on Vimeo
a few things before you watch:
- there was a problem with part 2, so i had to just do a synopsis of what i do
- i'm not the best texture artist but you could learn a thing or two.
- i had the mic to close to my face
- i dont really like the sound of my voice hehe but oh well its the only way to do it i spose..

You should be doing a few tests of the mic and audio before you begin. Record yourself babbling for a few minutes beforehand and find a good volume and mic distance to make it worthwhile.
It's honestly too breathy with too many inaudible pauses and periods of silence to be tolerable. A good tip would be to do the work, then voice over after, and then you can edit the audio and video as needed, cutting parts of silence, and "oops" time wasters in the work. It's also easier to explain your processes as you watch yourself doing it, rather than while you do it. You can also cut this down to about half the time after editing.
The final cannon looks pretty good, except for the specular on the cannon itself.
i'd second that. i would have used a lower gloss setting to widen the highlight, gotten rid of that seam on the back circle part, and added some color variation to the diffuse (color). i ment to mention it in your previous thread
@ott yeah it was only my first tut and i saw those problems myself before i uplloaded... will be fixed next time
any tips in specific? i just want to hear some feedback about maybe what i was doing which maybe other people hadn't tried... which would be funny cause im only 16 haha
btw i dont have a job so if anyone wants to hit me up hehe it'd be uhh, appreciated
I'll check out your tutorial when I get a chance. The cannon is looking nice, I'm sure your workflow is just as good.
yeah i am still in school. hehe so the thing is it would have to be an Offsite (as i'm in australia), part-time job which i'm sure no company offers...
What's wrong with Australian game companies? There's quite a few jobs in Sydney.. I'm in Newcastle, there's sweet FA here.. :P
