Hey everyone, I was sent an art test for a Freespace Mod, and I was asked to use a 4k map for a fighter craft. This seems a bit too huge for something that takes up maybe 20% of the screen. What do you think? The craft would be playable.
edit: The reason cited was that the texture could be scaled down, and that people who wanted to play higher rez could use a 4k texture.

Art test for a fan project you say, sounds more like work as fun for just a mod project.
I jam quite a few objects into my maps thinking in quarters and eighths on how I place my objects. If there's only one object going on that large of a map it'd better be huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge and always in view or incredibly important.
I'm not quite sure how maps are affected by larger resolutions though. Never really played with it a lot. I think it's kind of a lame reason to use a larger map because how many players have rigs that are going to get high enough resolution to make a 2048 get pixelated to the point where that's all they can focus on.
