Hey there, i am looking around some of the artwork i brought home today and i waned to share some of the screens from the environments i did for the game. We had a total of 4 environment artists to do all of the work for this game. So basically i had an entire level to do by myself which included models, textures, normals etc. etc. 95% of this level was made by me with the exception of some mesh for the environment,a few textures and some props. I wish i would have had more tme to make these levels to make them prettier.
Fantastic, I love the textures and lighting. Especially on the pipes, they have some good normal pops and specular roll offs. They do feel a bit empty but i'd say the mood is just right.
By everything, do you mean also the materials for the water, the fog volumes, and the lighting as well? Kinda wondering if I should know how to do particles like blowing smoke or fog volumes.
Overall stuff looks nice - good solid colour and mood, although maybe a little too green for my taste here and there.
Main thing I think looks odd is the stuff hanging from the pipes (like in this shot) - it looks really blurry and blobby, I would have thought it should look more stringy and dangling? The sides especially seem like a gradient falloff, rather than a sharp edge.
To clarify its the 3d assets which i made almost entirely, the lighting i had a small part in and the effects like water and particles i did not do.
Ebolav: No this is not the Unreal engine, its an in house engine created at Deadline games and evolved over time to its current state.
Kaburan: Thanks and i agree with you about my pipes, they could have had a little more polish but time was not on my side.I had a very limited amount of time to make all of the assets i did for this level. We also outsourced this level to a freelance artist but i had to fix alot of the parts of the level. Replacing textures which didnt match the style,optimizing/redoing a ton of level mesh to up performance. Sadly that took away from polish time.
JO420, I think it's pretty cool that you had so much ownership over this level. Must have been tough getting it all done on your own, but now you've got some great additions to your portfolio. Thanks for sharing with us, and good luck with your job search

Original version and variant with gun turret.
Machine gun is not mine.
Sadly it will never see the light of day.
