I'm just wondering if there is a way to import your own models into the Warcraft III engine from Maya.
Does anyone know of any workflow? Or even a link that would guide me best?
If you can find a .mdx export plug-in you should be in good shape. If not try to find a .mdl exporter and use this to convert it over to .mdx. http://www.wc3c.net/showthread.php?t=90928
There are a few free apps out there like milkshape3D that can import a bunch of file types and export to .mdl.
There's a separate procedure for preparing textures but I forget what it was, hiveworkshop probably has a tutorial.
Yeah it's easy. There's even a tool called something like "Warcraft Model Viewer" (don't remember the exact name) that would do all the import fiddling for you if you provide some obj or mdl.
