His new cd dropped today. Just started listening to it after lunch.
Seems pretty good so far. I've always been a fan of his so him sticking to the same type of stuff seems like a good choice.
Been a while since he's had a new cd and it's actually the first cd I have bought since his last one.

it's actually the first cd I have bought since his last one.
There you go since you couldn't read it the first time Geoff.
I listened to some of the snippets on the site, and I'm not sold on this one yet. I have most of his collection, and I'm a Detroit (suburb) guy, so I like to support the guy, but I'm waiting on this. Sometimes I need to hear his stuff a couple times before I like it. I prefer when he's funnier with his lyrics. This one almost seems too serious.
Let me know your overall impression though. It's only $10 for the initial release, so I may grab it anyway.
Lies!
I'm eager to see how Relapse 2 will sound like, most likely more like the last few tracks off this album since its meant to be a continuation of it.
looks like he's back on track with this one ..
Detox should be coming soon too..
Nope, you get them digitally if you preorder via eminem.com.
EDIT: it seems that you get them now as well if you order the cd on the website. So its not pre-order exclusive.
It seemed like he hasn't grown much and resorted to the same tactics that worked for him ten years ago. I'm going to see if I can sample some more tracks before investing in this album.
By the way is there anything as good as (Stan) or (The way I am) on there?
low and behold, his debut single from this album is a "funny" track. cash cow it all the way baby! MOO MOO!.
Some of his stuff was pretty good but I got pretty sick of the lil-boy mom and pop issues he seemed hung up on. I get it, your childhood sucked... yea just like everyone else. Maybe some of his later stuff wasn't that way but kind of tuned it out.
But that is just my opinion, it seems that a lot of people I know disagree with me.
This applies to almost every musican out there, they sing/rap/whatever the stuff they know something about. Most of them however talk about LOVE [eminem did in few of his songs but in 'kind of different' way lol] which is so fucking cliche.
In conclusion,
I'd much rather listen to some nice beat with guy rapping about raping or killing than to some guy with bitch-voice talking about how he cant pick up his 1000th chick.
I also think he could move to some more serious stuff with Relapse 2 considering that he changes flows/voices on almost each album then it should sound different yet again.
Ah, and i find Relapse the ultimate reason to NOT take neither valium nor other drugs ever (like i ever planned, i dont even smoke :S). If you look hard you can see a message in this
Detox is goin to release after monkey-brain releases his half-dollar shit, can't wait. Dre FTW.
i gotta say 3 am sounds pretty awesome can wait to see what else is on the CD havent payed to much attention to the reviews.
might have to go pick it up this weekend.
Oh snap!
Saw the video for his new single the other day, thought it was ok, was far more impressed with the fact that that 'sarah palin' porn star imitator was in it. That did it for me.
Usually does, mind you.
Sitting nude in my living room, it's almost noon. I wonder what's on the tube maybe they'll show some boobs. Surfin' every channel I find Hannah Montana then. I reach for the aloe and tanolin bust all over the wall panellin' dismantilin every candle on top of the fire place mantel and grab my flannel and my bandanna then kiss the naked mannequin man again.
Seriously...it's gold!

I was born with a dick in my brain, yeah fucked in the head
My stepfather said that I sucked in the bed
'Til one night he snuck in and said
We're going out back, I want my dick sucked in the she'd
Can't we just play with Teddy Ruxbin instead?
After I fuck you in the butt, get some head
Bust a nut, get some rest
The next day my mother said "I don't know what the fuck's up with this kid!
The bastard won't even eat nothing he's fed
He just hung himself in the bedroom he's dead"
"Debbie don't let that fucker get you upset
Go in there, stick a fuckin' cigarette to his neck
I bet you he's fakin' it, I bet you
I bet he probably just want's to see how upset you would get
I'll go handle this of course, unless you object"
"Ahh go fuck his brains out, if any's left in his head"
Once upon a time Eminem sounded angry and passionate about what he was doing, now he sounds like a drugged up, washed out parody of himself. He used to have something to say, now he's just bitching and angling for controversy.
Pretty ugly, really, career car-crashes.
I must be getting old or something, because lyrics like that are exactly what puts me off this album. I've had a brief listen to it and so many of the tracks seem to have this samey childish naughtyness theme to them that just bores the shit out of me. Totally lacking any edge or shock value that you'd find on his earlier albums. I've found his studio albums mostly unlistenable after 'The Eminem Show'. 'The Re-Up' was pretty decent though...
Em's still got a lyrical flow that's been constantly great through his whole career, it just seems like he ran out of things to say a few albums back. I'll have a few more listens to 'Relapse' just to be sure.
Yeah. Skip it for a while and listen again later, i had the same exact impression originally, it faded away in the end . I'm pretty sure he won't be going back to this theme in any of his next albums.
