Hey, I was wondering if anyone could help me figure this out.
I'm using ShaderFX 3 (the free version) to render my DW entry. I'm trying to get the realtime shadows working, but I must be missing a step somewhere.
Here's what I've got:
In the help video on the Lumonix website, there's a checkbox in the light manager for "cast shadows" and the shadow node doesn't have the slot for NdotL. I have "cast shadows" turned on in the regular Max settings for the lights. I've tried it with all 3 attenuation quality settings in the light manager to see if that made a difference too. I'm guessing maybe I'm supposed to put something into that NdotL slot, but I don't know what's suppsed to go there. (dot product of N and L? I don't know what they stand for though either)
Or is that just like a DX10 thing? I'm using DX9 on a GeForce 9600 GSO in 32-bit XP, in Max 9.
I tried everything I could think of, but remain befuddled. Does anyone have any ideas or know of a solution? Thanks in advance.

I have read somewhere that in previous max versions or shaderFX there was an issue with the shadow thingy which they fixed in the newest release- will have to look that one up for confirmation.
