Curious as to what anyone who's gotten an Aspire one has to say about it. I've putzed about with them at Fry's once or twice, definitely noticed a dramatic speed difference between the SSD and the standard hdd. What do any of you who have one have to say about generally using it.

I'd probably just keep it around in the car and whatnot, something to browse the web with at the coffee shop or take notes; maybe the occassional photoshop work with photos or something like that.

How powerful would you say they are, general usage speaking?

I got one for my GF, SSD and linpus seems great for web browsing, streams flash videos fine but not in full screen, plays avis fine too. The boot time is very quick in linux too.

The mother of my GF got one a few days ago. I've it right now because I need to install a few things on it. The model is Acer Aspire One D150-1Bk with windows XP, 10.1" screen size (+ webcam and micro built-in) and 160 go hard drive. I must say that I'm impressed by the "power" such a little portable can handle. Forget about real work on it, but like you said if it's just to browse internet content and stuff like that, it's really cool. Also, the power autonomy is between 4 and 6 hours !

    just go for it !

I've had one since about september, the windows XP version. It's a great little lightweight, mobile computer. I used to bring it to work with me, carry it around the office etc. Very capable video and music player, good for taking notes, etc.

Picked up a black 8.9" aspire one yesterday evening at fry's for $250 with the 160 gig hdd, been messing around with it and set it up with office 2007 / photoshop cs3. It boots up PS pretty damn quick. Having it on wifi's been useful for diagnosing some router issues we've been having lately. Big props to Acer for including the mini three button scroll wheel optical mouse in the package, makes up for the button layout on the touchpad. Need to get into the habit of tossing it in my car (may want to pick up a small padded case for it or something) and need a convenient way to carry around the mouse and power cable with it. The SD card reader's perfect cause that's exactly the card type my digital camera uses.

    Diggin it so far. :)

It can't handle Hulu well at all. Otherwise it is a nice little size for such a cheap price.

    heya!

I use the small 8,9 model (a150 i guess) with 160GB HDD. It's a small nice computer. And the best it was damn cheap at amazon :) Cpu could be faster, akku could be stronger and screen better (like the Asus EEE)... ;)
