It's strange. Nobody speak about that, but my first impression was "shit an alien in my kitchen!!".
You know, that one he caught your head and drop some eggs in the mouth! Desgusting, isn't it? haha!!
Then I took lot of pictures, and finaly it really was a beautiful specimen!
I went back to the 2nd working on my 3D.... and when I went back in the kitchen, legs and other in my miso soup -____- . . .
My father in law said museum look for specimen like that because to expensive one!
My wife said to fight a lot with it. When I took the picture it was really alive! And crazy move.
Just imagine 1s my wife putting the monster in the boiled waiter and trying to go away!
Haha crazy! I missed that!!!! ffuck the moon!!! T_T...
But the monster get my finger... In the pink plate , on the bottom you can see a leg with lot of spin.... I try to open for eating it, but I lost a finger in the fight haha!!
Anyway. crazy evening! It was delicious!
(And that one don't have claws, it fight with power of legs!)
MNy mother in law get it when fishing with a rod... seriously.... And father in law get 2 of that one too!
"Yesterday in your kitchen... this isn't going to go well, huh? You found a giant bug or something OH MY GOD IT IS A GIANT BUG! WHY DID YOU TAKE SO MANY PICTURES?! IT'S HORRIBLE!! OH GOD LOOK AT THOSE LEGS AND THOSE wait that's a lobster?? That's a freaking lobster! A lobster. Gee, thanks for that."
I still don't understand how people can actually eat those things, though. Now, I don't mind eating cute things. Give me a deer or a rabbit to chew on and I'll be happy. But I wouldn't touch one of those things with a stick! Or crabs. Crabs freak the hell out of me. I guess I might change my mind if someone tricks me into eating one and I like the taste? But if I have a choice... No thanks.
Lol that's no lobster! I dont know the english name but in my country its called a 'langoest', I think they only excist in Europe. You guys should have a coconut crab next time, now THOSE are scary!
And Rox, a lobster is just a really big shrimp, but tastes even better, you should try it sometime(but have some else make it for you because killing one yourself is pretty nasty).
Thanks for sharing the images. Those are some great reference pics for chitinous arthropods. I found the small swimmer fins below the abdomen to be especially interesting. I've seen quite a few polycounters trying their hands at modeling arthropods before. These images will be very useful for sculpting. (a lot of good texture reference in there)
I have a natural fear of most land-based arthropods. (insects and their ilk) But I love me some of the aquatic variety. I take a kind of perverse pleasure from watching them get boiled alive.
I have a natural fear of nearly all non-mammalian aquatic creatures, arthropods x10. Lobsters and all their seafood friends actually frighten me more than scorpions do. Roaches, waterbugs, and mantii rank scarier than catfish though.
I remember seeing grabber machine games in Osaka where you could win live lobsters. I never had the courage to try and win one as my tiny apartment only had a microwave...

I can't stand shrimps either, though... I've forced myself to eat, like, shrimp salad and stuff a few times, when people have bought it for me. I'll say this: I do like the taste, quite a lot. But I HATE the actual critters that the taste belongs to. If you could make artificial shrimp flavor, I'd probably be all over it, but if it's made from real shrimps, then no thanks. I don't value taste high enough to wanna eat them because of it.

Sama, great pics. Any chance of getting the hd ones as a zip or something uploaded somewhere? Would be great reference for freaky alien stuff

You're missing out a bit getting a lobster with no pincers, Samavan. That's where the best meat is.
