I may do a mermaid-like character, which I'm pretty sure would come under the norm category, and if so, she will be an Invoker, able to manipulate the ocean and weather. Able to bring forth storms, lightning, tidal waves, whirlpools fierce winds...etc.
The Powerful Magical Weapon...maybe a necklace, an amulet or a staff of some sort...

I was doing some concept sketches for school on the train yesterday and this morning...so I might have used it all...I should really keep my folder well stocked.....
I keep forgetting....
Just pencil sketches, haven't decided on a design yet.

Well anyway.
Here is the first few sketches I drew on the train Wednesday night.
They were mostly just to get me into it. So I'd have something to work with.
I have found it easier in some ways than drawing full pictures.
I sometimes find that, for example, I choose a certain hair style because on that particular picture it looks good, when another style might have looked better, but I didn't pick it because the face on that picture didn't look very good and made the picture seem less impressive.
I finished looking at the individual elements and started putting things together for full character designs. There will be more tomorrow, after I've scanned the pictures I've drawn today.

I'm more or less on the way to finishing...
At the moment the colours are greens and blue...
Well first I'll put up the sketches I drew on last Wednesday...
I was basically refining the designs and experimenting with poses to help me decide which design go go with...
Just has the front, back and side view at the moment, though I might add in close up details if I have time today.....
So I'm not entirely happy with it...
Not sure how much I can fix though...with how little time is left....

Thanks for the pointers. I'll work on one point at a time.
I've now added some shadows and slight highlights to the character...and a little bit of an outline to the rocks. I also changed the hair colour from dark blue to a dark reddish-brown...possibly looks better.
Made the eye colour lighter too, so you can actually see there's colour.
I'm not not very good at backgrounds and environments...so it'll be a bit of a challenge to get this to look good. Hopefully it looks much better by the time I have to submit!
But it doesn't end until next Monday.
I can't believe it.
I could have worked on my entries some more before submitting....
I'm such an idiot!
