good sculpting, maybe a more angular approach like your concept would be cool but it may be a bit late for that, the arms and shoulders also look a little small
Crits:
Eyes/brow line could be a bit more angry/sinister, the facial expression looks a little too happy/kindly old demon?
Just dragging the brow/forehead down a bit could do it. For sinister brows you want a 'v' not a 'm' shape. Unless your going for 'happy insane murderous serial killer', then by all means keep stick to whatca got
good crit from vig there, yeah I meant his arms are too small as in they look like a climbers arms rather than big strong monster arms. It may just be that you dont want him to be too much of a hulk.
ahhh yes vig, i may have to play around with that a bit, good idea! Ged, i see what your saying now, and i did intend to keep him relatively smaller than say a body builders physic.
say vig, by chance did you attend the Art institute of Seattle? Your thumbnail looks familiar... just curious.
Ha nope, at the time (1995) I was looking at art schools no one offered what I wanted, meh. No big thing, avatars get butchered borrowed and passed around all the time. It's kind of cool when you see one you made show up on other boards. It's probably someone I know, nearly everyone I work with went, and I have a few friends that went also.
I really like the horn detail you've got going too, the chest skull is excellent also!
Decided to leave the skull alone since it would be anatomically correct. Aside from that i got the normal baking done!!! Thank god for the 7 day extension!! woot!

as for the skull, anatomically correct isnt always best for displaying character and emotion.
oh yeah, he's holding a spellbook that I will have him casting out of. just fyi.
i hope you don't go with quite as much black in the final image, although i know this is a viewport screengrab.
it's shaping up nicely
