File Conversion? or straight import (.ma into max)

well, im working on a project with aa guy in my 3d class, and he uses maya, and i use max.. he made a model of himself in .ma format, and im putting it into one of my scenes in max.. i was going to import my scene into maya, but he is a character modeler, and not good with the other stuff, and im no good in maya.. im taking a maya class next semester.. anyways, bottom line is that i need to get a ..ma into max (2k9)

Use FBX format to export / import. Make sure you both have the latest plugins (available on Autodesk's site).
You can't directly import .ma files into Max.

thanks, ill see if i can get him to export a new one, he's not here he's about 400 miles away right now visiting his grandparents, maybe he'll let me into his computer, but i need to get into his house first.. haha


...anyone got a crowbar i can borrow?

I hear Autodesk are in talks to acquire the manufacturers of all crowbars.
