lol i definitely agree that the gun looks like the nerf pistol, but still, very well done! My only real critique would be that the space marines leg armor should be much bulkier, i used to play marines and i know how chunky the leg armor is lol
Crits:
- Face is a little flat, particularly the mouth. The cheeks are a bit fleshy and fat, not really the stereotypical giant proportions, big cheek bones, slightly sunken cheeks.
- Arms are a little long and the hands are a little big, they are almost terminator proportions but regular arms.
- Legs seem a bit thin. A big part of the space marine silhouette is thick leg armor. It give them that nice, "I'm harder then hell to knock off my feet" look. It balances out the shoulders and the backpack, otherwise they look top heavy, as he does now. It's almost like you tried to add bulk to the lower half by extending the arms?
- Backpack seems a bit short, but that could be due to the arms being so long?
- The space marine butt has a distinctive shape and comes to a stepped point. Right now the model is kind of a regular butt that curves around with the steps modeled in. Those protrusions add a lot to the silhouette.
Cool i love space marines!
More points for the gun though this time that is the awesome :P
My only crits would be to make some parts a bit thicker, would make it cooler. Like the barrel end is super thin, the magazine part holding the bullets is also too thin for my liking.
Nice start though. His arms are a bit long though. You might want to adjust his proportions buddy.
To be honest I wouldn't use the miniatures as reference but the paintings.
I prefer this take on the proportions for a space marine.
It might be cool to make that blood drop in the middle 3D, rather than just an outline. In fact, I'd probably model that whole thing and give it some nice depth.
One tip I would suggest is imagine him in slow motion, walking on hard surfaces, touching, leaning on things and bending over to pick things up.
Things suddenly jump out when you do this. Here is a quick list that I can see straight off- but do the excercise yourself - theres a few more in there.
Like, for example - notice the lips around his lower leg plates (greives)- they are far too low, so when he angles his foot, they will scrape and stick through the floor.
The rib armour would hit the belt if he tried to lean sideways or tilt his hips.
If he lifts his leg, the groin plate would push his thighplate outwards.
If he forms a fist, the ball of the thumb plating does not have any joints- so his thumb would not be able to curve around to form a fist or grip a gun.
nice, makes me want to go back reading my books! Where is your Nerf gun? dont take pictures away, especially when the replies to this thread is talking about it. Think about people who stumble upon this thread a bit later.
The marine is comming along also, try work some on his feet, they dont look to hot now.
I would get some more head ref, the head still reads a wrong because its so square at the top. Even if its not the style you are going for. His head should be more stylized or more realistic because right now it looks wrong from both angles.

-I changed the face and the legs a little,I don't know what to say about the arms, I like the gorilla look:
-This was my inspiration for the gun , it looks a lot like that Nerf gun :
-I wanted to model the Bolter but it does not have any challenge,it looks so not fun to do....
His arms seem very long, almost touching knees.
We are not toking about the type of gun, I hate the looks of the Boltar.
You should really model the actual bolter. Aside from being more accurate, and less silly, the bolter is a freakin' cool looking gun.
-Thanks for the critics

Hope that helps ya.
