I am trying to see if the source engine allows you to scale bones. I did a couple of tests and was unable to get it to export anything but rotation. Is anyone aware of this as an actual limitation or am I doing something wrong in source?
many apps, frameworks and engines freak out if you scale the bones or sometimes even other stuff- that's for example why it is always advised in max to resetXForm objects before exporting them- thouhg that wont work that easy on bones.
Some engines do support it though, I have worked with at least one that did but it has to be taken into consideration by the engine, I don't think Source does but I was just trying to double check.
I don't think Source supports this (natively, at least). For the actual animation I believe it's only translate and rotate offsets that it takes into account.
