.meta folders?

These folders are starting to appear within some folders on my hard drive. I am on Windows XP. They are sort of transparent, and inside them there are two files; a .stat file and a .toc file. What is this and should I be worried?

Thanks pea. Not sure what all that means, but I'll have a read through anyway.

it means that you propably use linux as well (by the look of your avatar it wouldn't suprise me) and that KDE generates them.
Windows generates annoying temp files as well like the thumbnails preview by default, OSX gets even more annoying dumping each time meta files on your USB stick.
