hey, this is cool - although you should definitely try to make the face less generic (obviously it's just a base mesh but i hope you will play around a lot with the proportions) - currently the head doesn't seem the right size/shape for his body.
Thanks for the crits, motivators and generel feedback everyone, it's much appriciated!
I've been getting into the sculpting now, I'm new to zbrush and I absolutely love the brushes. Clay tubes and rake are totally awesome and easy to work with. I'm going to get it to a point where I'm happy enough to make the low poly version then come back and bump it up a level or two for some extra details.
Love your pirate. Especially the wasted boxer face.
This guy is a hard to cook for sure.
If you have time, showing he's clavicules could be nice.
But it could work as well like that if you want to give him
a masive muscle man feel. Good luck.
Where is his pirate eye patch?
On a more serious note, I know you have just started the sculpt but I feel you could push everything further give him a weathered look in his skin and face. A suggestion if I may. he needs a monkey or a parrot. Can't have a pirate without a helper monkey or speaking parrot.
He's looking great mate! only thing is maybe the cheekbones are protuding a little bit too much. Unless ofcourse your going for the Owen Wilson of cheekbones thing :P
More sculpt work, well on my way now but still so much to do .
garagarape - Thanks, I gave him some clavicles although looking at it now I should probably push them more :poly116:.
Killaball - I really wanted to give him a helper crow, for some reason I think a crow would look really awesome on a pirate, unfortunately I don't have enough time to make it happen .
Jaiza - I toned his cheekbones down a real lil bit, they still need to be big enough to crush enemies with .
Midda, Arkanon - Danke, here is your complimentary bear :bear:.
3Drobbo - Thanks, the wooden leg could be cool but I'm not gonna have time to try it out .
All the rope is just over 3.5 million polys *drool*. Still a few objects which have zero sculpting on them yet, main one being the cannon (which is hidden). Seems like a week of little sleep for me :poly121:.
haha ropes great, i realy like the wheel on his back too, its like hes on a quest to recover some epic ship and the wheel is the only one that can steer it ...er ...i digress.
More cannon work... I'd say it's final now, I can think of more tweaks I want to do with it but time isn't on my side. If I don't finish my high poly stuff for the whole mesh tomorrow night I think I'll be cutting it very close.
Seee how its almost totally flat at the end? It needs that, there is so much pressure when fired that little bit you have on the end of your would totally explode/crack/wimp-out.
A wizard imbued him the power to hold the cannon while firing it, and a different yet still capable wizard imbued the gun to strengthen the metal.
I have taken some liberties with the design as you can see, I thought the awesomeness of a pirate firing a hand held cannon to be enough reason to throw reality out the window . You are probably right with the design of the cannon and it's functionality, but I still think it serves it's purpose in it's current state.

Had a play around in alchemy doing thumbs and I've ultimately decided on this one:
Yarghhh!
Love the cannon gun idea. The shapes on this one alone give a pretty neat idea of what you're aiming for.
Oh, I forgot to post my other thumbs, it's a bit late now but I thought I'd show you anyway:
I will make an effort to post more regularly in the future :P.
Like the idea of the noose mate.
3 weeks left...

I'm tired now, neeeed sleeeep .
Not enough in my opinion. I will post something tonight .
Looking forward to seeing what you've done.
I'm working on it tonight but I have something in the way:
You char looks great, although I hope you know not even that brute would be able to hold onto that thing when fired. Also, check out this cannon.

Gl, Cheers mate!
