So after years of lurking I finally decided to sign up for this here Glorious War.
Alchemy..sexy. 'Nuff said.
Some other poop..err..ideas.
I don't mind the Norm invoker but it felt a little lovey dovey.

After much piss farting around I went back to the shit I love, Demons...hungry hungry Demons.
This little guy likes walks on the beach, holding claws and Barry White...oh and eating the putrid flesh of Polycounts fallen enemies!!!! :snarl:

'might' have a little guy with him who hangs around gathering up the tender morsels left over from a kill, sort of a relationship akin to the birds that hang around buffalo, except of course for the blood and ooze.

I won't be doing any more on it, I know what I want to do with him so I'll just get into the good stuff.

I'm going to work on the concept some more tomorrow then get onto the base mesh.
The plan for finishing the concept will be:
- add some more broken bone pieces added to his loin cloth
- make the bones along the length of the loin cloth ribs not giant phallanges
- work on the bone protrusions coming out of his arms, legs and twin tail
- was toying with the idea of the loincloth being skinned arms and legs
- and then do his little mate, Greentooth
Doubt i'll color it.

I like the idea of a voodoo tribal demon. btw its totally creepy that you turned what looks like an African tribesman into a demon. good idea, but creepy. reminds me of some RE5 action.

Yup, pink legs are staying, he'll also have a cute little pink too too, it really makes his eyes pop.
I'll need to push those shapes a fair bit more in the actual sculpt, bit flat right now but progress none the least.

Yup, totally agree, it's only a concept sculpt though so I didn't do much more than a quick pass on the head.
I'll have a lot more form in the final sculpt, right now hes just a sausage man with a semi realised head.

Cheers mate, not sure if the colors will stay that way in final but it gives me some motivation to push on. It's really the only reason I do a concept sculpt, to get the creative juices flowing so later when it gets less fun I can look at it and go "Oh fook yeah, I need to keep on this!" lol
Brought across all the ideas I liked from the concept sculpt, still only working on the head, I should move onto the body but I'm having fun working on the teeth and horns.
Need more ram.

Teeth are sculpted in for now. Depending on the resolution I can get to in ZBrush I might pull them out when I retopologise.
No special tricks, all I do is lay down mesh for the mass of the gums around each tooth, mask a hole in the middle and push that back into the mesh, mask another hole and pull it back out.
The teeth are pretty deformed right now but I will be throwing it into Topogun once I'm happy with the majority of the mesh. Also gnarled messed up deformed teeth are awesome.
may i see a closeup of the head, specially the teeth..?

Will have to do a lot of the finer detail in photoshop/crazybump as my PC is pathetic.
Another progress shot, struggling with whether or not I should do the bone spikes coming out of the forearms, its in the concept but its just not sitting well with me.
Working on anatomy now, not the most accurate so crit's welcome.
The chest and shoulders are coming along nice and his back is looking really good.
Only crit's are his triceps are a bit off, they need to be a bit longer down towards his elbow more with some more bulk kinda like a upside down Y oh and more wang lol
really digging the rest of him, though. that face is great.

Good call on the legs, they do look very strange now you mention it.
I made a quick adjustment, I might shorten the last portion of the leg as well, still feels a touch odd.

I think maybe what's off about the triceps is that maybe they should slide in more snugly underneath the deltoid (shoulder) muscle mass.

lol, I'll man up his nether regions and go over the tri's again.
I've been trying to get all his accesories completed by this weekend, bit of a push to get it done, I only really get an hour or 2 here and there but I'm committedf to finishing the piece no matter what.
Started the skulls.
Oh and he has eye balls now...finally. lol

That's some hardcore zbrushery on the face there too...I assumed the teeth were subtools!

but propably you could make his legs a bit wider and bulkier.
he is strongest demon so far, cause he have balls all around.

I really wasn't enjoying the original concept so I did a little reworking, wanted to keep the skulls as I liked how they turned out.
Not sure about the hair...meh, we'll see.

My decrepid PC is struggling with the pitiful 5 Mill for the main sculpt so I've been getting a tonne of crashes on saves...yippee corrupt save Pixologic!
Anyway, here is my latest pass, working out some finer detail, not to happy with it just yet but its forward progress :P

I like this direction better. The rough tattered cloth suits his description more, its alot more savage.
I think the rings at the back arent neccessary it feels to refined....I just cant picture him having the patience to sit down and make it.
Ths sigil stones and the wrapping around the torso are really cool, it makes him more believable.....Dont know about the hair its creepy looking but I dont think he can pull off a side pony :P
Base is almost done, took a fair chunk of my time to do it but I just wanted to get it out of the way, will put a pic up when its completed.
The stringy bits took ages to do, 70 knots all up. lol
I'll be dreaming about knots tonight... especially as I still have one leg and arm to string up...jebus!

Lastly I did a real rough bake test, high to low from ZBrush, dodgey automatic unwrap in maya..
Even with shocking uv's most of the detail pulled through!! Yippeess!!
The test is a whopping 11216 tri's but I don't think the 10k limit isn't going to be hard to hit. Check out those toes for poly wastage... 1300 tri's just in the feet alone!! lol

Are you still going to do the greentooth skull? I was looking forward to it . I've been doing the ropes on my guy and I can tell you I feel your pain, although yours seems a lot more complex with all the knots :poly115:.
The bake has turned out pretty good for an automatic unwrap, however it seems like he's lost some detail in his nether regions :poly124:.
Hope to see him finished.

Yeah everyone hates the feet, lol. I don't know, I like them, I'm either completely stupid or a bonafide genius.
As for the tail, I wanted to try something a little different, he's pretty generic, also the tail literaly has zero work on it yet so hopefully once I've done it I can convert you.
