Hey all, I'm new to this forum, but I wanted to post something for DW this year, and this was the forum I am most familiar with. This is my first time competing in Dominance War, and I'm really hoping I have time to finish something with school and all...

Anyway, after some tooling around with some demon concepts, I decided to go with a norm warlord instead, since I think I could use a good human character for my portfolio (almost all the characters I've created for school are anthropomorphic or monstery :P). So heres a quick sketch of what I think I'll be working on...

The stylization is really spot on. Gives off a very roman feel. I think you should reconsider the spikes on the shoulder pads. Break human proportions a bit too, go "all out". welcome to the board, and nice work.

Alright... off school for a week! Hopefully I can knock a big chunk of this out during that time...

sweet.. looks very solid.. that little shield feels kind of small and pointless in my opinion.. Think i would put something else in there.. I dont like the nail/bolt on his left shoulder either im afraid.. otherwise i think its damn good.. will be interesting to follow this in 3d..

Yea, I guess the bolt was kind of an afterthought... Now that you mention it, looks kinda silly. Regarding the "shield" thing... I guess I was going for a sort of decorative shoulder pad kinda thing, but I suppose it could have some more actual purpose.

Here's another version where the cloak is attached to the mantle by the shoulder-pad things. And the skull is strapped over a shoulder on the back.

i think the design could do with a bit more asymmetry in the silhouette. perhaps the details' asymmetry will be good enough to counter this suggestion though.

other than that, this looks to be pretty damned amazing

So here's a sculpt I was messing around with... I have used it a couple times before but I'm still trying to familiarize myself with zbrush. Not really sure about the best way to go about creating everything here, especially workflow. So far I've been working in 3ds max creating the low poly, and having a difficult time attempting the mantle. Think I would have more luck if I made the high poly for the mantle first?





I'll post my cage progress later if I'm feeling confident.

Just wanted to post my cage progress. Gonna have to shave a few polys off i'm sure, especially since I need to start making a weapon yet... I'm a little worried, but I think I'll manage. Also need to save room for some fur and hair planes.







I really hope I finish this in time... School starts up again this week though, so we'll just have to see.
